I don't think they allow girls on the audience. It's against the ESC code.

xD

At a certain moment they were in the audience and our Belgian commentator said: "Oh, a woman in the audience!"
Then the "woman" spoke and out came that obviously male voice and he was like: "Oh, wait, never mind"

The most hilarious thing about the YT views is that Russia is actually gaining views quicker than any other country including Cyprus and Israel. (If I remember correctly, Cyprus had 1.5M views after one day, Russia has 1.9M) And it's very likely the most disliked ESC YT video ever.

It's official! There is a spanish invasion happening in Lisbon! I arrived this afternoon in Lisbon and everywhere I go I can only hear spanish! In the metro, downtown, in the Eurovillage (I was in line for some merchandising and in front of me 3 spanish teens and behind me guess what? A spanish couple!) Welcome Hermanos! xheyaxheyaxheya

Serbia is gaining views on YT at the petty fast rate (3rd most popular qualified performance from SF2). I wonder if they can get into the Top5 in the televote with the help of the Eastern bloc.

Does anyone have a screenshot of the voting scoreboard? Surprised no one has leaked it yet

Well this has been an amazing year: amped up performances, campy staging (:md: is iconic), a diverse set of songs that I feel raised the bar in terms of quality compared to most other years, artists who embraced the Eurovision bubble for what it is, an exciting voting, a creative stage, a loyal audience and four hosts who seemed excited in what they we’re doing. Thank you :pt: and everyone involved who made this year one of the best, I’m lucky if next year is just as good.

I’ve promised myself to take extra shifts and go do the full 2019 experience, we’ll see! xheart

The voting was probably the most exiting and unpredictable that I can remember for a very long time, it made it also very clear that juries live in their own little bubble.

Well deserved victory to :il: , although :cy: will remain my #1 from this edition.

The show itself had a nice stage, but that's about it. The hostesses were better than the hot mess in Kyiv last year, but they weren't very good. The interval stuff in the semis were pretty bad. I expect something better next year tbh.

Yeah. There is huge gap between televoting and the jury. Of course sometimes a jury can save an "important" entry that the televoters don't respect - but who can say what is an important entry? It's subjective. But still I am asking myself what the work of a jury is.

Is there a list somewhere of the scoreboard with the old voting system?

Great hosts, obrigado Portugal. For me the show was flawless! Except for the graphic design, that looked way more promising months ago.

My review on this year's ESC.

All in all it was a great Eurovison this year. We had A LOT of great songs - which ended in an exciting voting with an unpredictable winner.
I didn't have much fun during a Eurovision show since the early 2010s. So thank you, this year was truly a good year!

Portugal did a good job in hosting (sometimes a bit over the top) and staging. I really loved the stage - for me it was one of the best this decade. What wasn't that good was the camera- and audiowork. It was terrible in the semis and I'm glad they improved it in the final but still there were some minor failures that ruined a bit some performances imo.

The postcards were okay, nothing special. The interlude/break and the voting process were much too long. I liked the DJ when the participants walked into the arena. Green room was a bit of a flop but I can get over it.

The performances in the final were super! Much better than in the semis. The artists sang and performed much better. Loved the improvement!

The voting was so exciting. I couldn't believe it. In the end, a song has won that was nowhere near my top 5. (I'm used to it, I didn't like every winner at all after 2015). BUT in regard to the fact there were only three countries that scored a good amount of points in BOTH juries and public it was just fair that it won. So I can live with it as a winner. It wasn't my first choice, still it's better than the winner of 2016 and 2017.

Still it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that the overall winner didn't equally win jury and public vote. The gap between jury and public is too much, it doesn't feel right. But as I pointed out before - Israel is one of the few countries where the gap between jury and public vote isn't a canyon.

i don't think it is possible to calculate what the results would be in the 2013-2015 system because they haven't revealed the 11-26 ranked countries in each televote. i believe austria might have won though, which would prove that format is absolutely garbage.

also yeah, my opinion on this year is "amazing performances and stage, but seriously brought down by the horrible voting".

I don't know why you complain about the jury vote. If juries vote the same way as televoters - what's the point of juries? Of course juries will observe ESC songs from a different perspective and based on that they will give their scores... Despite the fact I don't mind the way they voted, I believe there will be some changes for the next year, juries will stay, but something will change.

obviously the problem is not juries disagreeing with televotes in itself. sometimes i find them right over the televote... except most of those times were from before 2014 lol. their mindset has been changing and getting utterly STUPID and the disconnect with the televote is becoming too wide, which is not good. that's what get us middle of the road entries too afraid of going one way or another because they need to do well with both sides when that was nearly impossible this year.

It was nice to see how countries vote when their traditional 12 pointer is not in the final, like Belarus, Moldova, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Armenia. Since there where so many of them, this was a nice new perspective.
