Well, I guess you are mixing up stats, because Olympiaworld consists of bigger (Olympiahalle) and smaller facilities (Wasserkraftarena). Tivoli Stadium is also part of Olympiaworld and the biggest facility, but I doubt it will house the contest.

They pictures of Olymipiahalle you found, go to show that it is very Eurovision worthy and the audience is apparently bigger than in recent ESC's.

Why don't you like Innsbruck? Is it the high mountains? Do they scare you? :D

Olympiaworld looks very modern and don't forget it's bigger than the venues of 2013 and 2014! Innsbruck overall is very modern and there's lots of buzz, young folks and a cool nightlife. I'd be happy if Innsbruck gets the spotlight, Vienna already had plenty of it!

For ORF it looks like the best choice, because the province of Tyrol and the city of Innsbruck seem to be willing to bear ALL the costs, whereas if the contest goes to Vienna, the costs ends up on the public because ORF would most likely raise their fees to pay the Eurovision bills. According to a rough calculation, they assume 25 million of costs and 10 million of revenues. And Vienna has even more trouble, first of all, the saying goes that a cancellation of the Stadthalle bookings would be penalised by a rough 5 million euros! Furthermore EBU requires a cooling system, something Stadthalle doesn't have - so there go another 4 million euro into the renovation. But since Vienna seems very keen on hosting Eurovision next year, they are throwing the Neu-Marx area into the bazar, where there is an old industrial facility but also plenty of space to build a brandnew arena.... Crystal Hall y'all. They would have to spend 120 million euros at least, and that's money they just don't have and time is also running out. I don't think EBU would approve that the most expensive contest would be held in Vienna, after their own efforts to downsize it again after Baku and Moscow.

I suppose this was going to me :D

Personally if you ask me I think that the most appropriate venua was the other one in Graz, but it was eleminatedl. For these 3 I think that Vienna has the most appropriate place to host a Eurovision anniversary. Innsbruck's venue seems to me more as a centre for young people :D. But from the other hand it would help the town be more popular in Europe. As for the cost Innsbruck seems to have a complete venue, with all the things that are required and it has big capacity as well, so this would bring money. Well Vienna wins me in the venue, but Innsbruck wins in the cost of the contest... let's see

No, the link I posted is about the Olympiahalle itself. The other facilities are required for press centre, dressing rooms etc. but that doesn't matter when it comes to the capacity of the hall.

What was the previous budgets over the past few years?

Russia 2009 - 30 million euros
Norway 2010 - 24 million euros
Germany 2011 - read somewhere around 27 million euros, not sure
Azerbaijan 2012 - 236 million euros ( it includes the costs of buliding the Baku Crystal Hall)
Sweden 2013 - 12 million euros according to SVT!!!
Denmark 2014 - also 25 million euros, including the costs of renovationg the B&W Hall, and apparently Austria won't need to renovate the hall, whichever one is chosen.

Let it be Vienna please! Vienna is the historical heart of Europe... you barely need 7 days to see everything... and I'd love to spend a whole week there, rather than Innsbruck!

I don't think the selection time really has a control over it. I think it ultimately lays with how the song is selected, if countries use a regular method instead of changing it every year then they will be more successful. Purely because songwriters will know it wont change so will likely start writing songs for the contest even before the broadcaster calls for songs to be entered. I think the size of selections matter and the songwriters who enter matter as well, if there is a lot of professional interest then the quality of songs will usually be high; which is the case for Sweden, then they can have big selections take place. But if there is low professional interest or the music industry is not that good then big selections are not the way to go because the songs entered will be low quality, the UK could fit into that despite our music industry. Another factor is the gimmick a song has on stage to make it memorable, bearded lady, trampoline, Hamster wheel or a see-saw just are examples.

All true, but Common Linnets had no gimmicks whatsoever. They just worked on their song and the staging for a while and it paid off. I see what you mean about the format but I do believe that timing of the NF can have at least some effect on the quality that comes around, at least in some cases.

The Common Linnets had a song which was very different from what everyone else had. It allowed it to stand out on its own because of this. Like you said, the effort they put into staging paid off for them. They kept it simple and worked, sometimes less is more.

Dirk Stermann refuses to throw his hat in the ring for hosting ESC 2015, saying he doesn't have the class to do it, since he always used to ridicule ESC with his comedian-bro Christoph Grissemann. This turns down the plea of a facebook group of 11,000 for him doing this job.

ESC 2015: Stermann für Waltz und Wurst

More interesting though, he stated that Christoph Waltz and Conchita Wurst should do it....

Is he giving us here a hint? xheat

Actually I thought by today we would already know the host city, but it seems like ORF needs more time, since Innsbruck has a strong application, but ORF seems reluctant to give it a go. Now Vienna declared they are more committed to support the ESC financially. But they still don't have a suitable venue.

Well, I don't think they'd have announced it directly after the official negotiations (which took place last week from Wednesday to Friday in the respective candidate cities). I guess they'll still have some internal talks for the next 1-2 weeks.

I have a feeling its gonna be Innsbruck.

I could imagine Scott Mills (UK spokesperson) saying "Hello Innsbruck, this is London calling!"
