RIP Udo. Three great entries, particularly "Sag ihr, ich lass sie grüßen" (definitely in my top 3 Austrian entries).

^I think we'll see Conchita perform Merci Chérie in May.

I hope it will be Helene Fischer. Her interpretation is an everlasting piece of art, and since she will never take part in Eurovision as a contestant, and was a late friend of Udo Jürgens, she is prone to pay him this Eurovision tribute.... :(

Just listened to "Sag ihr, ich lass sie grüßen" for the first time. This song is amazing, how could he not win in 1965?. But Merci Chérie is still epic.

The father daughter duet is so touching

Love without pain

He could have won Eurovision at least 20 times until today with his great timeless hits

Helene Fischer will for sure not be part of ESC in Vienna :-) except as german entry
i would prefer that nobody sings merci cherie except Udo himself

Well, looks like Jon Ola trolled us, I expected something major than a confirmation of what we already know.

Really pissed off because of Slovakia.

Well, after listening to her interpretation of Merci Cherie, I am not keen on Conchita or Christina Stürmer to doing that.

its just not very realistic that orf will let a german singer perform one of the two austrian winning songs. another reason is that Helene Fischer performed this song already in a tv show and it would not be very innovative to bring an interval act that has been seen elsewhere before.

well ...remember the opening of the Semi 1 in 2013? We had already seen it in Melodifestivalen but anyway I have to agree that Helene has nothing to do with Austria - I'm sure there are enough good artists in the country itself who are as good as her or even better for this job.

Well, I was hoping that besides the honor of hosting that Eurovision is already over the nationalistic poppycock. Helene is as big in Austria as Udo in Germany, and she would definitely own the crowd.

This may not be a news but I'm so eager to share this with you all!

A friend of mine, who attended the same university in China as mine and then went to work in Germany, applied for Eurovision 2015 volunteer, and got the notice from ORF to have an interview in mid-March. I'm not sure if she is the first ever Chinese citizen to formally apply for being a Eurovision volunteer, but it really shows increasing Eurovision influence in China.

But sadly enough, China's Central Television failed to rebroadcast ESC 2014 like what they did a year ago with ESC 2013. I think probably because of the victory of Conchita.

Two Eurovision songs made into the Year End Charts in Austria:

RLAP at 19 (better than Katrina & the waves in 1997 at 27 and Johnny Logan in 1987 at 28)
CATS at 6 (better than Loreen in 2012 at 7, Lena in 2010 at 11, Toto Cotugno in 1990 at 14, Lordi in 2006 at 15)

Conchita outperformed on home soil

She was also defeated by Andreas Bourani (at 9), who stated that he would have judged the song better, if it was sung better. He was a German judge this year along with Sido. Both think that Conchita is not a good enough singer. The German jury hasn't had Conchita in their TOp 10, except for Jennifer Rostock, who ranked her 9th.

Ö3 Austria Top 40 Jahrescharts 2014: Singles - OE3 Charts

The Makemakes who run for the 2015 ticket already made into the charts at 73.

Looking at the those charts, 2014 must have been the worst year of music overall. Looking at my iPod I have only bought 2 songs this year  (Chandelier & Walk). I also bought the Bastille album, but I am not sure if it was this year or 2013.
