I can imagine that the bookmakers had seen indications that Saba's vocals weren't impressive. That can explain why Denmark was placed in the low 20's early on, while all the polls said 'Sand' should win.

Okay, didn’t expect this to be an unpopular opinion; but this song is purely STUNNING! This is my clear winner so far. I don’t understand since when ESC fandom became so annoyed by real good pop.

This is a pop song and it ticks all the boxes to be a real good one. Saba could even be my winner overall - “Sand” is my most played song of the year on Apple Music by miles. :12: points for very sure! :)

None of the songs were great. The winner wasn't bad but still leaves me with a meh feeling. It's really generic and "Swedish"… I think Basim's song would have grown on me. And I prefer his general 'happy vibe'. Anyway, not sure DK will go very far, but I guess there's a still hope for getting through the semis. That's all I wish for DK

True, it's becoming a little too one-sided. Well-sounding melodic pop songs are being ridiculed by some, while other songs are getting praise just for being freaky and "fun".

It's sad because within the genre of pop there is a large spectre of quality. It's not just "all the same" as certain parts of the fandom claim.

One of the better picks Denmark could've made out of their annual "oops, all midtempo radio pop" NF lineup, I guess.

I think I would've preferred Aura or Ublu, but this isn't bad. A competent song, decently performed, decently staged. Feels like a 6/10 to 7/10 in every conceivable metric - which I think is going to give it the same televote struggle as Germany in May, just with slightly weaker vocals but better staging & a more contemporary song.

The most important thing here is: thank you, juries, for saving me from The Evil that is Basim and his overly twee pop. I had him last in my ESC rankings for 2014 and could very well have done the same thing this year if he'd been sent again. I think this is actually the first time this season that I've preferred a jury result over a televote result, so I'm happy the jury won out here, lol.

:6: points. Could drop to a 5 with time, or grow to a 7 or 8; we'll see how it goes.

It's a perfectly fine song, it's not bad to listen to or something, but I'm afraid it really lacks character or some standout feature to keep my attention.

I'll give it a :4:.

I don’t understand since when ESC fandom became so annoyed by real good pop.
Because:
1. Pop songs often follows predictable formulas and writing tropes.
2. Pop songs in average feel faceless since it was written for no specific artists. It doesn't thrill anyone.
3. 'SAND', as good as it sounds, unfortunately follows a heavy substance of 1 and 2 in it, which could mean in most cases both Saba (a very new artist) and the song itself won't stand out.
4. ESC fandom does reward appreciation for real good pop, too, but it either needs to have a big artist carrying it, or such an engaging performance to it.

Song is inoffensive enough but entirely forgettable.

She is not the strongest singer either which is unfortunate. The quiet bit at the start sounded very mumbled (might have been the sound mix) and the choruses and ending were quite shouty and strained.

Also what the hell was the lighting designer doing? Just because you have lots of fancy lighting toys doesn't mean that you need to use all of them all of the time. Way too much strobing and fast moving lights. Also because the lighting was predominently bright white you couldn't actually see her in half of the shots because she was also wearing a white outfit!

Non-qualifier is my prediction.

Two questions:
1. Does Saba live in Copenhagen
2. Is she going to sleep in her own bed during Eurovision week???

Anyways Denmark probably the best choice of the bunch

Tumblr, mostly.
The best thing about this Eurovision is that all the awful fanbases are getting owned hardcore as the good songs are selected. Keiino fans, St. Pedro fans, Ryk fans, The Roop fans, Mirrorball of Hope truthers... it's a thing of beauty. Finally the toxicity in the fandom is catching up with those that have been spreading it the furthest!!

(and rainywoods, one of the least toxic presences in the universe is finally getting validation for their opinions xheart that too kinda slays)

Thank FUCK basim lost. One of the absolute worst songs to ever disgrace any national final, thank YOU juries for protecting me from a shit country's horrid, braindead televote. How anyone can listen to that narcissistic plea for attention and not be OUTRAGED is beyond me.

As for Saba, well... the problems are obvious - it's canned dance pop with no actual correlation to her, so no wonder she looked bored during the performance I guess. Pity because i would otherwise like the song. As with that other block of wood, Marie Reim: learn to serve, bitch. once you have, I'll be able to enjoy you. fail to do so, well, nq.

Upward and onwards, Denmark. Have a generous :6:
