I havent been very impressed by the danish Melodi Grand Prix these last years. But last year at least there where a couple of entries I could relate to. The winner last year wasnt bad at all - though not in my top 10.
But after a quick look at this years selection I'm left quite disappointed. I do think most of these might struggle to reach the final. I dont see much potential in these entries. Worst of the lot is this la - la - la - la - latino song... quite horrible!
And it's a shame the videos have lyrics, the lyrics are in general so thin it's almost embarrassing to follow them onscreen.

Did the DMGP crew got saturation after Emmelie De Forests win in Malmö 2013? Because since the 9th place in Copenhagen 2014, the danish finals has become weaker and weaker for every year (with the exception for 2015 when they just picked the wrong song)

I really thought they were gonna be back on track after the little bit surprising but deserved 9th place last year, (I really didn´t see that 5th place in the televoting coming) but that´s not the feeling I get after listening to this years songs, DMGP has lost it´s identity, which is sad since we know that they can if they really want.

Is it time for DR to make some changes in the DMGP crew maybe?

Well, it's a fine selection we've got this year, but as per usual, there's a lack of genre variety.

Glad, however, to see more language variety; Danish, Spanish, French, German, Greenlandic - that's a plus

The songs I like (in the order they're presented):

Julie & Nina - League of Light
Leonora - Love Is Forever

Personally, I think we should send Leonora to Tel Aviv

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix is coming up, so I was just listening again to the Denmark songs to find at least a song that I could support ... but all songs lack too much of something outstanding or simply something I can connect to. The only song(s) that are still listenable (but by far prickling) are:

Rasmus Faartoft - Hold My Breath
Teit Samsø - Step It Up
Julie & Nina - League of Light

Maybe the performances will give me a clearer insight and I can find a song that will surprise me ...

I don't think it's the worst NF denmark has offered, I think it has quite a bit of variety compared to some previous years, but they can for sure do so much better. I personally really really like "Anywhere" by Simone Emilie though, the chorus and progression/structure of the song is super pretty and positively unexpected, it's not an outstanding song, but a low-key bop nevertheless. I also like "Love Is Forever" by Leonora a lot, again it's not too exciting of an entry, but it's something different in this selection and quite enjoyable, adorable, sincere, unassuming and unpretentious (for the most part). The rest of the selection doesn't do much for me I think "Kiss Like This" and "League Of Light" have potential so they're in my top 5, but they're irritating to me at the same time, because they both try to do a specific cultural sound in a very contrived and commercial and uninspired way imo. All in all I think "League Of Light" or "Love Is Forever" would be the best choice for Denmark for standing out, but I'm not sure if they'd go for either of them so

Jesus would those two stop worming their way into the contest?? They have no musical credentials at all, that's why their enthusiasm for the ESC isn't expressed by actually participating, but by screeching about it and sucking up the the EBU
