Well, it's true that Swedish language songs in Melodifestivalen tend to be weaker, but there are many exceptions here (Timotej, Linda Bentzing,...).

But look at Norway. They used to have quite nice songs in native language. They never win, but they don't sound as dated and lame as the Danish language songs in DMGP.

Yes you sometimes get a few good Swedish uptempos like Timotej and Linda (even those are becoming rare :() but the majority of Swedish language ones still seem worse in comparison to the English ones xdoh

Norway has had a few really good Norwegian ethnic entries here and there but if this year is any indication they are REALLY heading in the opposite direction xdoh

I guess adult contemporary (which most Danish entries are) doesn't sound too good in Danish and makes them sound even more dull then people already think they are xshrug

Timoteij among better?? xfaint

It's actually among the worst entries.. :? I think Sean Banan is better seriosly..

Just thinking of them playing all these fake instruments give me nightmares, and playing all these instruments dressed like barbies.. :?

And that repetitive fake ethnic music...somebody kill me please.. xfaint

In Swedish language I loved the most Sonja Alden and Josefin Nilsson! :)

Timoteij should have won back in 2010 (although I liked Anna too)... "fake fake fake"... who cares?... it was catchy and in Swedish.

Anyone liking Sean Banan but whose age is over 4 should have no right criticize anything

Sonja Aldén's "För att du finns" is a beautiful ballad indeed, Josefin Nilsson's MF entry not so much though xshrug

The issue with MF is that the MF team tactically chose not just less Swedish language entries, but also Swedish language entries they know wouldn't be tough competitors and not very representative of actual contemporary Swedish (Swedish language) music. It's sad, but it'll continue as long as the current MF team will be responsible.

Actually, I rooted for Sukkerchok to win the Danish selections 2009-2010. Catchy, fun pop in Danish language. I think it's a big pity with the Danish MGP, probably more irrelevant and less representative of their music scene than what MF is in Sweden. There's lots of good contemporary Danish language music, but for some reason DR always sticks to these dated formulas and safe-middle-of-the-road-pop stuff in English. I cross my fingers that now when they're hosting they'd try something else for a change.

What's wrong with their dresses? xshrug

Gosh, you judge ESC as a singing-fashion show... songs seems less important

You do joke now do you?

On what are your hopes based on, when only one entry is not in English in Dansk MGP, there are several Swedish names, Bryan Rice AGAIN, one dragact..

Re: DENMARK 2014

The 10 songs... no Rollo and King :p

1. Sonny: Feeling The You
2. Anna David: It Hurts
3. Basim: Cliche Love Song
4. Rebekka Thornbech: Your Lies
5. GlamboyP: Right By Your Side
6. Bryan Rice: I Choose You
7. Nadia Malm: Before You Forget Me
8. Michael Rune feat. Natascha Bessez: Wanna be Loved
9. Emilie Moldow: Vi finder hjem
10. Danni Elmo: She's The One

Seriously DR, ONE effin song in Danish??

It's especially disturbing seeing names like Anna David and Nadia Malm (both names made contemporary music in Danish language work just fine!) go with English...

And Bryan Rice again?? Why?

The rest I dunno who they are... but it looks meh. Typically DR ESC selection it seems...

Yeah, I just saw the list... DR is worse than SVT (as if that's even possible).

What about waiting for the song before discarding it just because it's in English? That annoys me so much...

Sure, the song could be good, but I simply can't take this self-hate. DR will host it, yet they only accepted one entry in Danish in the selection, and seeing acts that recently made their career singing in Danish doing English just for this occasion is sad :(

I hope the Danish song is the biggest pile of shite ever entered in a national final so I can see A-lister's reaction
