This is slightly off topic, but I must share it. This nice promo spot for a current Czech edition of Dancing with the Stars proves that sometimes ČT is actually willing to do something to promote their shows. If only it was the case of Eurovision...

Wow, interesting move from ČT. Really good decision imo!
I'm really surprised they chose a 29 years old guy as a HoD

Btw, he doesn't look like in the pic above anymore, this is his current look (way better now )

Few important points from Jan's message for the eurocontest.cz website:
- the selection process for our entry will be the same as in 2015
- songwriters are already sending songs to ČT

imo ČT should promote the fact people can send in songs - never have I seen anything on the internet/broadcast about this possibility.

I was already rather impressed with their 2015 entry, especially considering I'd never liked any previous Czech Eurovision entries. Hopefully they keep the trend of a good song & great vocalists going!

The poll on Escportal.cz is currently in its third phase: vote from 15 "finalists", if you have some favorites among them. Current TOP3: 1. Lucie Vondráčková (23%), 2. Marta Jandová (13%), 3. Václav Noid Bárta (11%).

BTW, in this interview, Václav Noid Bárta was asked if he would compose another song for the next year Eurovision. He said that if there would be an interest, he actually already has one preselected.

Jan Bors, the head of Czech delegation, has confirmed to Eurocontest.cz that three songs have been shortlisted and special jury panel will meet this month to make the final decision on the song and the artist as well. More info should be revealed soon.

I said the same thing last year: they did their job imo, but qualification didn't happen

But I also hope for the best, I ain't no time for a sell-out effort, they should stay true to themselves and send a song Czechs wouldn't be ashamed of.

Hopefully I have faith in Jan Bors, he is a young guy with good music taste, so hopefully he won't allow the jury to choose anything horrible
I also checked Facebook profile of Milan Fridrich (programme director of ČT) and his post from May 2015 about Eurovision - lots of people in the comments are hating on ESC, while various ČT people responded to these comments and defended it - this pleasantly surprised me and made me believe that the attitude of ČT has truly changed and they honestly like the contest https://www.facebook.com/milan.fridrich1/posts/10204397191553107 [MENTION=14197]Ritararita[/MENTION]

What does "sell-out effort" exactly mean?

A dated over-Americanized Disney ballad about peace and sung in English, for instance. Basically anything a broadcaster think would please juries in particular.

When choosing their entry, they shouldn't take into account the alleged taste of these people, it's no use really and we end up with forgettable songs.

That's why I hope their next entry will have been chosen because ČT considers it represents well what the country has to offer: talented people with interesting music.

According to iDnes.cz sources - Thom Artway, Light & Love and Dasha are the 3 chosen ones among which the jury will decide who will represent us in Stockholm

If it's true, then it looks more than promising! I love Thom and Light & Love - Dasha on the other hand is a great singer, but I havent heard any original music from her apart from some film soundtracks.

As I already said months before, I would be quite happy with Thom Artway or Light & Love. So, after this, I would like to believe that Jan Bors actually knows this forum and takes some notes.

As for Dasha, well... She is really great vocalist, but she somewhat lacks that special something for me. But considering who could be on her place (according to the Escportal.cz poll, for example), I think she would not be a bad choice. I´ll just add for non-Czechs that she was a long-time backing vocalist of Karel Gott and she is currently best known as a singer from tv show StarDance. Most of her tv performances can be seen here.

I think all three looks pretty good. Especially Thom looks really promising, could bring us something really edgy and well-made. Hope for the best Czechs!
