Re: CZECH REPUBLIC 2016

I decided to ignore the possibility of a withdrawal for a moment and seek for some "fresh meat" instead. And I discovered this cute duo called "Light and Love" on YouTube. What do you think about them?

Markéta Irglová would be a really great choice! xheart

Well, Markéta Irglová is indeed a respectable musician and she even won an Oscar for "Falling Slowly", but with all respect, I don´t think she would be a good candidate for Eurovision. Call me naive, but I still didn´t completely quit my dream about Czech Republic qualifying one day. :)

Markéta Irglová sounds amazing from what I've heard from her, but they need something probably more commercial to finally break through.

Re: CZECH REPUBLIC 2016

Markéta Irglová was my first choice before the announcement, but if "Hope Never Dies" didn't make it, the only explanation of which I can think is "too inaccessible," a problem that Markéta Irglová would most certainly not solve. I hate to say it, but I think you need another "Have Some Fun." You could also go the Austria route and pick someone to trick people into thinking you aren't taking it seriously only to send an excellent song that gets sung and staged beautifully, but that's tricky and, obviously, requires an excellent song that gets sung and staged beautifully.

I hate to say it, but I think you need another "Have Some Fun."

I don´t see what would be point of it. Have Some Fun was the biggest trash we ever sent there and gave nothing but a shame to us. The only reason why Tereza Kerndlová won NF in 2008 was that she bought many, many SIM cards to members of her fanclub.

Anyone mentioned Lucie Vondrackova yet?

Although I personally dislike her, I must admit that Lucie is much more popular here, she even recently won a female category of an annual award for a singer which most people like to see on TV. So, Czech people would be probably interested in watching Eurovision thanks to her. However, Lucie Vondráčková lives in Canada at the moment, and she is pregnant. So, next spring she will be probably still very busy because of her child and husband, who plays hockey in Montreal.

I agree with Terence that in our situation, we can´t really send anything as unpredictable as Markéta Irglová would be, but that doesn´t neccessarily mean that we have to send pure trash. I believe that a simple, lighthearted and catchy song could be the right choice.

Besides the "Love & Light" duo, I also discovered this boy today. I never heard of him before and this song was released just two weeks ago, but it´s so memorable after first listening that I am whistling it all day. So, Thom Artway is already on my imaginary list "Czech singers to watch in 2015":

There are lots of new, young, high quality artists that I imagine would go to Eurovision immediately if they were given the chance. Unfortunately I think ČT isn't capable of thinking out of the box and wouldn't invite them.

Considering the fact that local A-listers are too scared of failure to participate, I actually think that chosing of someone young and fresh who has nothing to lose is more probable. I am curious which "new, young, high quality artists" do you have in mind. Could you name a few?

nah, just kidding

Well, thinking about it, I'm not sure if they'd be interested in Eurovision and they would probably fail in ESC...
I don't think you will like them but someone like Munroe, VR/Nobody, Calm Season, IYES, Lanugo, Ille, Never Sol, Sarah & The Adams, Aivn's Naked Trio etc...

Heck even mainstream stuff like Voxel or Lake Malawi could be good.

If we want to shock, we could send Vanessa or Schwarzprior

You are right. No, I actually like IYES and Calm Season and can stand most of the others, but let´s be realistic. If even :lv: or :be: 2015 were generally seen as something "alternative" and possibilities of their qualifying were questioned, then this would be without any chance. If juries must base their ranking on things like vocal range or staging, then some genres in which these things don´t really matter are excluded from the beginning.

With Lake Malawi (or former Charlie Straight), I always have the same problem - everything about them seems to be right and comparable with similar foreign bands, but their songs just are not that memorable.

I hope that the success of Latvia and Belgium will encourage more entries like this in the next years :)
With Lake Malawi I have the same problem, but they have 2 songs which are imo great - Chinese Trees and Day For Finding Someone

Richard Krajčo is a wonderful singer and pretty charismatic.
I would also love to see Vaclav Noid Barta defending his country alone this time. I got goosebumps when I saw his cover of Nothing Else Matters.

I see this as a positive thing.
If they didn't gave a single f*ck after their non-qualification, they'd have said it immediately
