My winner!!!! The best what happened this night with ESC!!! Such a shame on juries!!

For what exactly? He was third after the juries, perfectly in line with what Måneskin scored in 2021, just to say one. Shame on televoters who decided to give 15 twelve pointers at Israel by pity providing your favourite to win. That's the real deal here.

Do we know if Baby Lasagna posed with Nemo on a photo at some point during their ESC experience (I always loved the old photos when the runner-up hugged the winner first). Or will it be like another Mahmood-Duncan Laurence scenario where the top contenders always avoided each other despite even both winning at the Marcel Berecenzon awards?

I did say some weeks ago that I have trouble seeing a path for this winning. Things got pretty hectic these past days and maybe he will get more jury votes than expected in order to prevent an israeli win.

As someone living in Germany with a croatian passport, this winning would surely be the best case scenario. I'm still doubtful and somehow see Switzerland having higher chances than this. Fingers crossed though.

Sad. That televote made me hopeful. My guess is it will take another 20 years to get such a chance again.

It must be tough for the Croatian fans. One step away from victory they had to concede the scepter to Switzerland. In my opinion Baby Lasagna is the Käärijää of 2024: a moral winner. However, they must be proud of second place and the Press Award obtained.

It will be difficult for Croatia to return to these levels in the short term but for years they have been demonstrating through Dora that their musical panorama is strong, a little gem like the Baltic ones. Sooner or later the victory will come.

In conclusion, the reason for the defeat lies in the ideals of the broadcaster's leaders mixed with the political problem and the edition which proved to be too noisy. EBU wanted Nemo's vocal quality to win, he wanted to have a winner of convenience and a song that stood out from the dancing masses of 2024 and also from the "success" of 2023. In another edition this evolution of the sound is put into 00s scene (that's a compliment), this Techno/Trap/Pop/Rock collage would have won.

As much as I dislike the huge televote for Israel - that wasn't why Croatia didn't win. Croatia won the televote with a higher score than Måneskin in 2021, adjusted to the number of countries voted, shared #4 in the rankings of highest televote ever. It was the huge lead in jury points that made Nemo unbeatable, a ~150 difference to 2nd place. It matters less if you're 2nd or 3rd in juries, the actual number difference is what counts. Better 6th with juries but only 50 points behind 1st in an even split, than 2nd place but 150 points behind.

I get why juries are there, I love "The Code", and Nemo is amazing. But I don't think the juries should be able to decide the winner like this. 2nd year in a row where a runaway jury winner gives the public favorite little chance. That System needs reworking, IMO.

It's especially bitter, bcs Croatia losing to Switzerland, despite 100+ more in tele, really plays into the "juries just don't like the Baltics" narrative.

Either way, I hope Baby Lasagna gets all the love in Croatia, and that the Fans are super proud and happy with his performance. He worked so hard, he deserves it.

I just watched him performing in the center of Zagreb. He was so overwhelmed with the support, he cried. I cried too, bless him!

The juries voting was fair, especially in comparison with the televote. BL does not have the vocals and performance ability of Nemo, and the song was mostly based on a pre-exisitng riff. Switzerland's song was a more complete composition, presented in a more interesting way, by a superior vocalist and performer.
2nd place for Croatia is a great achievement and their entry will be remembered. However the juries were mostly spot on this year.

I feel so sorry for Croatia! He was the loser in a political game by other countries that in the end prevented him from winning!! So sad!!!

There was this group of pro-Palestine countries who exchanged points. This must be addressed when we talk about fairness.
Nemo and Marina were seen together on social media and Switzerland‘s 12 points went to Greece of all countries (sure ;)).

Portugal, Belgium, Spain and Greece - four countries being amongst the most vocal against Israel wanted Nemo to win, because he belonged to that Palestine-supporting group around Bambie Thug. As a result, they were the only countries not giving jury points to Croatia (and prevented his win).

To be fair, Croatia‘s jury didn’t give points to Switzerland either. Avoiding your opponent isn’t new. But the Pro-Palestine group prevented Croatia from winning for a political cause, which is as bad as supporting Israel & Ukraine for political reasons.

And it makes me so sad, that the rightful winner Baby Lasagna, the only one who was top 3 in BOTH jury and public vote, was just a puppet in the game of politics. It’s a shame.

They had not if Bambie did not start making the contest political.

Neither Israel nor Ireland were in the betting odds top 5 before Bambie started it. Both went up in the odds after it.
Israel jumped to first in the odds, without having a song released, right before the NF season back when the war started. They stayed there for quite a while until the NF season and internally selected entries started showing some gems, and when the public opinion on israhell also started changing. They were hovering in the top 5 - top 10 of the odds the whole contest long after that. Until the Rai votes, when they jumped up again.

Ireland sprung up in the odds primarily after the rehearsals.
