Tried to fix the broken pieces, now I'm leaving
But you made it loud and clear I’m not enough
Tried to fool me more than once to keep me dreaming
'Cause you knew the truth would tear us apart

If you pull me down then I'll come around
And rise up to come show you who I am
I feel fire inside, my heart’s desire
I'm breaking free from you

Tick-tock, watch the days go
I'm losing track of time
Lost in your playzone
Don't overcomplicate
Now we're in warzone
You're screaming, "Oh no, oh no, oh no"

Tick-tock, I'll take you dancing
In time wе might break
You think you're fancy
I play those gamеs my way and you’ll be beggin’
"Please baby, don't go, don’t go, don't go"

I hear those voices from far away
They help me to escape (Escape)
I found myself and I'm finally free from
Your bad love in every strength

Tick-tock, watch the days go
I'm losing track of time
Lost in your playzone
Don’t overcomplicate
Now we're in warzone
You're screaming, "Oh no, oh no, oh no"

Dancin', dancin'
Think you, think you fancy
Tick-tock
Don't go, don't go, don't go

I hear those voices from far away
They help me to escape (Escape)
I found myself and I'm finally free from
Your bad love in every strength

Tick-tock, vrijeme curi, gdje si više
Usne grizem, sama jedva dišem
Tick-tock vrijeme juri ne mogu više
Oh no, oh no

Tick-tock, I'll take you dancing
In time we might break
You think you're fancy
I play those games my way and you'll be beggin'
"Please baby, don't go, don't go, don't go"

Dancin', dancin'
Think you, think you fancy
Tick-tock
Don't go, don't go, don't go

After the second listen, my thoughts are now probably solidified.

Only Nina made impact on me and sounds like a big grower.

Everything else I find either:
- cheesy or just bad
- too formulaic (created with "mainstream" in mind to compete but ends up being generic and has no impact)
- too local without anything to pull in the foreign mass of listeners

I don´t know what I exactly expected from my country´s selection, but overall, I´m not happy with this.

For me, it should be Cambi, love that in only 1 minute. xheart
This NF is not so good as i hoped, there some good songs after Cambi, but the most are mediocre or meh. Ocean Of Love, let me bleed my ears. This like a NF from the early 2000er.

I also like the fact that Bernarda ( who sings "Colors" ) didn't qualify to DORA last year with "All Of My Love" and then it was sold to Malta xcookie

One man's trash in another man's treasure, but 'Destiny's song is a DORA reject' is an interesting storyline. xcookie

Colors is great! Tho I really doubt it's going to win since it needs a very dynamic performance.. we'll see... I think it's between Mia, Nina and Filip, Mia might win since it will appeal to both the juries and to the public... Nina might flop live tbh, and Filip will do well with the juries but flop at televote. My dark horse tho is Ella, love her voice and she is literally one of the most beautiful women I've seen.

Filip will win the jury votee, Albina will win the televote and the overall

I'll be happy with this even though I support Filip (I can change my opinion with the live)

Gut instinct is that they're going to pick the klapa group. Rijeka is the only one that made any sort of impact on me but I don't have much faith in Croatia choosing it.

which is a shame.. I find Albina's song to be quite disappointing.. I especially don't like the chorus it's quite dated..

nah that won't happen.. the televote might like it, but doubt that the juries will go for it.

Even though I had low expectations of this selection since the moment I saw the participants list, I admit I got very excited yesterday morning knowing that the snippets will be released soon. I guess I was just hopeful that the songs might prove me wrong and be a lesson that I should not judge solely by the names. Unfortunately, it was not the case - none of the snippets managed to catch my attention and get my hyped about it. :(

Obviously I had the highest expectations from Nina and she is the only one that (no surprise) stood out. I am not blown away by it, but I stay positive that it grows into something much bigger and powerful in the remaining 2 minutes of the song. The song is called 'River' and the first minute feels more like a calm 'stream' to me, so I hope she prepared something turbulent as well. The women choir does a great job though and overall I am glad that this song is a new musical beginning in her career.

For the rest I'll just name a few:
- Reci mi - it's a decent attempt I guess. I am glad it was him who composed and produced the song (playing the instruments as well), some of the singers in the line up should take notes;
- Ocean of Love - I guess this is the type of song we would expect from Vincent Bueno? In any case, this sounds like the catchiest of overproduced songs in the line up;
- Blind - I guess it's his vocal that stands out here. He's really charismatic and I'm sure his live performance will manage to 'sell the story' (which may work in case of Croatian public but not the ESC one);
- Ma zamisli - for this one I have to use an expression in my language: Dua Lipa za sirotinju. Beta is so cute and her energy is contagious, but this song is a typical basic-random-Croatian-radio-festival entry and it brings no value to the selection. She deserved waaaay better entry;
- Zaljubljen - the 'klapa' way of singing is easy to sell to Croatians (I don't understand why) and I believe it is a strong contender. It has to be the most serious attempt in Dora's history when it comes to imagining and creating klapa music out of klapa box as this has a touch of drama and cliché Balkan ballad in it;
- Noći pijane - this one got me so excited, not because of the song itself, but because of HRT including this type of entry in Dora line up. Brigita obviously doesn't stand a chance with jury and tbh the song is pretty basic, but this is a huuuuge step for HRT to accept to stream such music genre live in their programme and hopefully a sign to broaden their horizons in the future;
- She's Like a Dream - here I'll just say: please DON'T win;
- Zapjevaj, sloboda je! - this ticks all the right boxes for the average Croatian Dora voter and unfortunately I believe this will be our entry in ESC 2021. It sounds pretentious and if they win in Dora, I'll be super happy to see them fail in May;

And I guess I may be one of the few forum members who never got a chance to hear 'Colors' before. Now that I've heard the snippet I can understand why it never found it's way to the ESC - it's awfully basic and bland, and I don't think any artist would be capable of making it sound appealing.

My final thought for this post: I'm afraid Dora will never grow into something more than just a basic local Croatian festival. Having 14 songs is too much when most of them are only aimed for within country promotion, and I don't understand how HRT aims to reach high in ESC when they give space for songs like 'Colors', 'Kriv' and 'Share the Love' to compete. If you asked me (no one did but still here I am), the perfect competitive Dora 2021 would include only 5-8 songs.

lmao i'm expecting mia negovetic to win now, since her song and performance are/will be both impressive and appeal to juries (like last year with When It Comes To You) and televoting.

nina please pull through queen

My verdict on the DORA snippets:
1. Rijeka - Very ethereal and packed with harmony. This can promise you an epic stage performance. Please win, Nina.
2. Reci mi - I'm not sold on the choice of instrumentation, it sounded demo-ish at times.
3. Come This Way - Instrumentation is a bit unpolished. The chorus is way too much for me.
4. Colors - This is that Symphonix song. It's a breath of fresh air, but I'm not sure whether Bernarda will carry enough energy for this type of song.
5. Kriv - Skip this. This is as old-fashioned as it could be.
6. Ocean of Love - I like this. It's funky, bubbly, and refreshing. One of my favorites from this selection.
7. Blind - This is beautiful, but it's that type of ballad that will just stay like 'that' even if efforts are made on the staging.
8. Ma Zamisli - I like it, but I don't think it'll stand a chance in this selection. I hope Beta can return with a much better song.
9. Zaljubljen - The song is dramatic and fits their voices very well. However, I don't want to see another static Klapa staging. Come on, boys, give us some choreography!
10. Share the Love - No.
11. Noci Pijane - People keep saying she's a Senidah wannabe, but props to HRT for including this kind of song.
12. She's Like a Dream - I don't like the fact that this is a Debs' song, but it's groovy and fits Mia's current/newer image. I think it's a contender for the win, too.
13. Tick-Tock - If she wins, I'll be as pleased as Nina, too. Max Cinnamon's production added some extra flavor into it. Yes, it's not as polished as some of the other entries.
14. Zapjevaj, sloboda je! - As good as it is, I had ENOUGH of a Balkan Rock entry.
