Re: Proof that Azerbaijan cheats in Eurovision voting

Except I didn't accuse. I basically said theres something fishy about it.. and I made the point each time I mentioned it that I had no proof. The panorama team that went to Azerbaijan last year had absolutely loads of proof though of stuff going on there that wasn't very nice. video footage, interviews with people that have fled the country etc. Do you blame me for questioning when so much evidence has been put in front of my eyes? It's not an attack on it's people i'm making. It's an attack on the politics of the country and the way not very nice things are happening in the contest.
Yeah, you didn't accuse at all. It's not that I'm accusing you of being a pedophile. I'll just mention pedophilia and how weird it is that you've been seen in the vicinity of children on multiple occasions.

It's not a direct accusation, so it's fine.

You could always say "Who cares?"... Who cares the nasty dictator hurting his people? Have they done anything about it? No? Then who cares?
This has what to do with Formula One racing or the Eurovision Song Contest's voting patterns or Youtube view counts? This is how desperate you're getting.

^Tis an extreme comparison to a music contest but I think it gets my point across.
No it really doesn't.

Ideally i'd have it so that there was no advertising, so that it was just a competition of music. The contest is obviously a lot more than just about music though now.. it's about who promotes their song the most. As you saw last night, artists names pretty much seem to mean nothing. Bonnie and Cascada right near the bottom.
Loreen did basically jack **** to promote "Euphoria" (because Sweden never really promotes its entries). She just sat down for a few interviews, visited a few sites and voila, higher number of 12 pointers in the history of the contest.

Indeed I am still here, on a discussion forum about a contest I enjoy watching.
So do you enjoy watching it or not? You just implied that you didn't and said that maybe it's time for you to move on. Now you're saying you enjoy watching he contest?

Yes poor Malta. Poor San Marino, poor Bulgaria, poor Israel, poor Albania, poor France etc etc.
You didn't even bother clicking those links, did you? In 5 years, Malta came in 2nd twice. This year, they came in 8th. Poor, poor Malta. They'll never do well, ever, because they're a tiny country with no money. Except when they totally do!

Yes the majority enjoys ballads about peace from Sweden it would seem.
And?

You are obviously delighted with the direction this contest is heading.. whereas I am not.
I have a wide taste in music. I can enjoy "ballads about peace" (I didn't enjoy "What If") and even if I can't, I won't get mad about such entries doing well in the contest. I am also a realist. This contest is a popularity contest that is moving more and more towards focusing on good staging, in addition to having good songs. It's been apparent for the better part of a decade now.

It' not going o change.

I don't think I really needed to give anything new.. because I had a point in the first place. You are basically trying to tell me "So what?" to some of the points I made. Of course it's not wise to accuse people of anything without evidence which i've never done anyway. I've just stated as many others have that things are fishy.
It's not that I'm accusing you of being a Nazi, but I'm pretty sure I've seen you in the vicinity of places where Nazis have been spotted at one time or another during our lifetimes.

Because saying "I think it's fishy this video of a woman wishing Azerbaijan good luck has 72,000 views and while I have no evidence Azerbaijan's done anything wrong, if they did, it would be sad, sad, pathetic, not right, end-of-the-world, baby-eating devil-worshipping pure evil of them!" is totally not accusing anyone of anything at all.

So it's not that I'm accusing you of being a cowardly weasel who doesn't dare to come out and accuse people of wrong-doing directly but chooses instead to strongly imply things so you'll be able to feign ignorance and innocence later. Nor am I accusing you of being a pedophile Nazi. But it would be very sad and wrong of you if you were any of those things. Not that I have any proof and am just speculating. Also, I find it fishy that I've never seen you denounce any of these things. So you could certainly be any/all of these things. Though, again, no proof. But it's fishy!

And for Azeris - do not offence, but after the situation when 50 people were arrested because of their sms for Armenia in 2009, you don't look like a honest participant. That's why this situation looks like new cheating.
If you are talking about interrogation topic, then nobody was arrested at all. Even interrogation itself was a big question mark since I personally know some people who voted for Armenia in 2009 and never interrogated.

This kind of a post from your side looks exactly the way that anything related to Azerbaijan is exxagerated in a negative way. It is kinda the name Azerbaijan is like a red rag to a bull. I don't know what offensive and bad we did to you guys but hatred and negativism towards the whole country or nation is not a good sign. Try to overcome it with any way you can.

We as a country and nation had many problems in our very modern history and we still suffer from something and believe me that is much bigger than our internal political problems you underline over and over.

As for ESC, I know the contest is political enough but it is not all about politics the same way our and many other countries are not all about politics.

Thank you, I was beginning to worry.

Just like half the stuff you are saying to me.. it has absolutely nothing to do with what I was saying. I was making wild comparisons just like you're making to me in your responses just now.

Loreen did basically jack **** to promote "Euphoria" (because Sweden never really promotes its entries). She just sat down for a few interviews, visited a few sites and voila, higher number of 12 pointers in the history of the contest.

Good for her!

I enjoy watching it. I don't enjoy the politics that unfortunately come with the contest. I don't enjoy neighbourly voting (which practically every country can be accused of I know). I don't enjoy the direction the contest is heading in. I enjoy mainly the idea of the contest. I enjoyed the show that Sweden put on very much this year. Didn't enjoy the favouritism. I more enjoy the run up to Eurovision when we learn of the songs to be honest with you.

You didn't even bother clicking those links, did you? In 5 years, Malta came in 2nd twice. This year, they came in 8th. Poor, poor Malta. They'll never do well, ever, because they're a tiny country with no money. Or not.

If you posted links I missed them. I'll go back and check after this. Yes well done Malta. Although they have to fight hard. Doesn't take away from the fact other countries can send someone passing wind into a tin can for three minutes and get top 10 with ease. You can use Malta as your shining beacon of light all you want.. "Look little countries can get success too!" It's still much more difficult for them though. Practically impossible for some.

and they are soulless. Personal opinion of course.

I have a wide taste in music. I can enjoy "ballads about peace" (I didn't enjoy "What If") and even if I can't, I won't get mad about such entries doing well in the contest. I am also a realist. Well thats very nice for you. I also would like to think I have a very wide taste. Outside the contest I listen to a bizarre platter of different types of experimental stuff. The one thing I always look for in my music though is honesty. All these eastern countries with their swedish songs.. they just come across very cold to me. It's the one thing I really can't stand. I complain (as do others) because i'd like to be able to continue to watch the contest and at least get some enjoyment from it. I'm worried for where the contest is heading. Am I not allowed to voice my concern?

Well i'm absolutely delighted you are not accusing me of being a Nazi. Thank you sir. Much appreciated.

It indeed isn't accusing. If I said "This video has had it's views boosted illegally" then i'd be accusing. I'm glad you understood this.

Ah thank you, thats a relief. For a moment I was beginning to think that you were.

Indeed you don't have any proof and you were just speculating as we all often do. There is a difference between speculating and assumption and i'm delighted you know the difference.

As for Malta, it is not hidden that ITV has perfect relations with their TV. Every year Azeri representatives make promo tours to Malta and our songs are often played on their radios. Moreover, Maltese TV even invited Hunsiyye and Eldar to be members of jury at their NF. I suppose we get high points from both their jury and televoters which finally make us get 12 points.

Azerbaijan deserved every point they have and more. I think they were the best this year and had to win but some western countries didn't allow it because this is Azerbaijan. Their success is a very enviable thing for many countries and people, that's why there are stupid tales about cheating in Eurovision for Azerbaijan only thought I also don't understand how Montenegro gave to Ukraine 12 pts in the Semi and o pts in the Final. I think it looks strange - how? maybe because it would be dangerous for Denmark's winning? As for me I voting for Azerbaijan 4th time in a row seeing them the best because I like their entries and listen it every time I want to listen good music but I haven't any relation to their diaspora (which is not big in Ukraine) haven't some financial reason to vote for them.

Apparently, a Lithuanian "online newspaper" (as reported by Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet, which also ckaims that Azerbaijan got 284 points this tear) is reporting that two Russian-speaking men were soliciting Lithuanian students to vote for Azerbaijan.

The students would receive mobile phones with pre-paid SIM-cards, with which to vote for Azerbaijan, brcause the Russian men doing it themselves with a few friends would apparently have bern too hard. The students would get some 20 euros in return.

The webpage also claims that they sent out undercover reporters with tape recorders and recorded the men saying they'd done tjis for the semi-finals as well and that they were doing it in some 15 countties, such as Ukraine. Yeah, because if you're rigging votes, you'd readily admit it to perfect strangers!

Either the purported publication is lying (if it even exists. Aftonbladet does not linj to its sources and they didn't even name the paper) or tjose Russian-speaking men were lying to damage Azerbaijsn's image.

Because why eould thry have to pay people to vote using phones and Sim-cards they will provide? Just send some 10-20 people by carcto each country and have them vote 20 times per phone through SMS-voting. Takes less than 1 minute per phone. And if they were indeed recruiting students to effectivrly cheat, why would they descrube in detail ehat they were doing and where to pergect strangers?

FilipFromSweden, I'm still waiting for your sources alleging that Azerbaijan bribed/tried to brube juries. Even Aftonbladet isn't claiming that.

I love how some in here try defend fraud and cheating in ESC because they either like the song and/-or comes from that country.

Fraud is never ok in any shape or form! Self-criticism is a good thing.

And your proof for this is? Absolutely no one is reporting this.

Uppgifter om Azerbajdzjan i Eurovision:
We even have the video here! Don't you think its weird that Azerbaijan has only not been in the top 5 in 5 years?
Do you have any evidence that Azerbaijan did not cheat?

People defending Azerbaijanic cheating is just an evidence for diaspora voting
