Yes it is true.
The 1st deadline was until 22nd of November.
The 2nd deadline is until 15th of December.
And the 3rd deadline is until 10th of January.

Looks like EBU is afraid to get embarrassed by a low amount of participants and is pitching a fit now. xrofl2

Lol, with so many withdrawals EBU tries anything possible to make it stop
Still, it's unfair, if they extend the deadline for Bulgaria, they should do it for all the other countries as well. For example Cyprus also said that they would consider joining if they resolve their problems.

Is the EBU that desperate? Wow. I do feel bad when countries withdraw, but when it's because of financial reasons, sometimes it's just best to wait.

This is true. Of course I want all the eligible countries to participate and it would be amazing to see them all together in one year but that's just not possible. :(

Most broadcasters are bleeding money and right now some are trying to participate with a well that only has a few drops of water in it. As you said its best to sit out and wait until they can they can come back at full or at least half strength. It would probably make a big difference to the entry. xshrug

But I'm not going to lie and say I won't be jumping for joy if they do somehow participate in 2014. :D

Supposedly not. The December and January deadlines are for countries who have applied in time for the November deadline, but that want to go back on their decision and not participate. The only exception was supposed to be Greece, considering their unique situation.
As such, BNT had to have sent an application yesterday. If they didn't, then EBU is indeed changing the meaning of deadline.

This was clear, but last year when Turkey pulled out, EBU were ready to enter in talks and to make them reconsider. Now the situation is more or less the same. As long as the official list is not published, there could be some changes. And the final deadline for the countries which confirmed yesterday was 15.12, not 10.01.2014. The second one is new thing. I assume, that it's not only exclusively for us, but for all other countries to have their final say.

Yeah I wondered about January 10th as I hadn't heard it before. So what is that one exactly?

I think january 10 is really the final deadline, when EBU will make a press report with the participants, the last years they did it always mid-january
