Iris will represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku
Iris or Laura Van den Bruel lives in Herentals, Limburg, Belgium.
Although she is only 16 years old, she had a really good voice.
As a child she loved to sing everyday songs of Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and Natalia.
She dreamed of a own career but started first with covers.
Last year - when she was only fifteen years old - the music label Sonic Angel discovered her in a talent show and she was picked of 300 others and she produced her first song Wonderful.
Just like 2 years ago VRT went for an artist who can become an international star. Tom Dice was 2 years ago the first Belgian artist who survived the semis and ended even 6th in the final.
Afterwards it even seemed Tom won his semi.
The next months the VRT will work intensively work with Iris and her environment to prepare her for the eurovision song contest.
The first step taken was to change her name from Airis to Iris, so that there would be no confusion.
At this moment there is no song selected yet, but this will start now and will be in the next few weeks and months.
The VRT will ask to producers to write songs.
Beginning 2012 the song will presented.
The goal for next year is the same as in 2010: to reach the final
