Friday the 24th of February 2012, Belarusian broadcaster BRTC has announced a new participant for Baku. Litesound who won the jury's voting on the 14th of February will represent their country in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. The band will rock the stage with their song We Are The Heroes!

Litesound is a Minsk band, performing pop-rock in English. The band started in 2002 in the form of an acoustic duet by brothers Dmitry (vocal) and Vladimir (guitar, coauthor). Kariakin brothers performed at various international contests in China, USA and Russia. In winter 2004 Sergey Grinko (drums) and Mario Gulinsky (bass guitar) joined the band, changing it into a quartet, and started to perform in Belarus.

Big improvement! If they dropped the noisy electronic and went for guitarbased rock instead, they would have a fantastic entry. 8 pts.

This song is much better than the previous one. And it's the first Belarussian song since "Work your magic" that I like. Good luck, neighbours!

ok, this is the matter of taste in the end but I disagree. I love that electronic background, it's good and it works in the song. also, I feel that without it, song would lose it's "edge". guitars are very well represented already xshrug

To be honest, I preferred "All My Life" a big deal. This is really listenable but so ordinary. Getting a Netherlands 2011 vibe from it... 5 points

I don't know many songs this year, but this one can do well. ;)

It's actually not that bad! :) But still, not even close to be a winner.

Far better choice, I actually like it a great deal. Belarus have gone from certain non-qualifier to making the final in my mind.

Much better than the previous entry. In fact, one of the best Belorussian entries. Should pass to the final and do well there.

Much better than previous entry. This one seems slightly cliched and cheesy, but it's far catchier and I think it may stand a chance in the semi final now. :)

in the nutshell:
Alyona was announced the winner
Litesound started bitchin'
Judges said "we don't know, we voted for Litesound, it must have been televoting that put her on top. go away!"
Litesound started bitchin' even more.
Investigation showed that public voting results have been tampered with.
President said:" for the love of... apologize to the girl and let those whining boys go to Baku."

funniest summary ever..

What's with Belarus every year? What happened with the previous song & singer? :?
I prefered the previous entry, but this one is not bad either. It could easily qualify. I'm not really impressed though. 6 points ;)

I just had to do this

Let's look back at Belarusian ESC history:

Debut 2004: Aleksandra & Konstantin wins Belarusian selection with "Moj Galilej", the only change for Eurovision is the English new version "My Galileo".

2005: Angelica Agurbash wins the national selection with the entry "Boys and Girls", later they change to the complete new song "Love Me Tonight" for Eurovision.

2006: Polina Smolova is one of the entrants in the national selection with her entry "Sait odinochestva", but she changes her entry to a new one, "Mama", after qualifying to the final. She wins the national selection with her new entry and "Mama" becomes "Mum" in Eurovision.

2007: Dima Koldun is one of the contestants in the national selection (2006) with his entry "Angel mechty", when the final is held in early 2007 he enters a complete new entry "Work Your Magic" and eventually wins with his new entry.

2008: Ruslan Alekhno wins the Belarusian national selection this year with his entry "Hasta La Vista", this is the first time since the 2004 debut that the winning entry wasn't changed to another song during the selection process or after winning, however the entry did in fact get quite a revamp for Eurovision so one can argue that what we got was partly a new song.

2009: For a second year in a row Belarus sticks to their winning entry with no internal changes, Petr Elfimov and "Eyes That Never Lie" goes to Moscow.

2010: A new selection system is used by ONT channel called "Musical Court", which is described as a "potential ESC selection but not necessarily". Artyom Mihalenko wins with his entry "Don't Play In Love". However the BTRC (responsible for Belarusian ESC entries) announce that they'll internally choose another entry instead. The runner-up entry “Far Away” from "Musical Court" is now the new Belarusian entry with the group 3+2 (which has a revamped constellation since “Musical Court”, also including winner Mihalenko). However, the group’s entry for Eurovision changes to the whole new song “Butterflies”.

2011: Anastasia Vinnikova and the entry ”Born in Belarusia” is internally selected this year by BTRC, however due to the political content of the lyrics (or probably EBU pressure) the lyrics of the entry is changed and as a result of that it’s now a revamped lyrics version named “I Am Belarusian”. However this song is withdrawn after alleged breaking the EBU time-rules and a new entry is chosen for Anastasia, titled “I Love Belarus” which ends up being this year’s Belarusian ESC entry.

2012: Alyona Lanskaya wins the Belarusian selection with “All My Life”, after discussion about potential song change, Lanskaya’s team has been accused of rigging the votes, and runner-up Litesound with “We are the Heroes” is chosen instead. Will there be any more song changes? We’ll see…
