Re: BELARUS 2011

I knew it would be disqulified sooner or later, I just didn't know what would disqualify it :p I hope they can come up with something better... they should change the singer too in my opinion... I know they have better singers in Belarus.

What about being disqualified, because the whole song is completely cheesy?

When you say "new music"...are you referring to sending a new song? The artist can still represent Belarus but with a completely different song, they can't just change the lyrics and arrangement.

They are writing the new arrangement. This is all that we know so far.

Now, when they've already changed the text they just have to write the new music. If they won't provide major changes then EBU can disqualify them.

With the emphasis on "major"...it would probably be totally different song from the current version.

Re: BELARUS 2011

^ I have no idea. It's all hypothetical.
EBU is very loyal when it comes to the current participants. They will improve the song but what's major and what's not major? Who's gonna decide? I think that BTRC should consult with EBU.
We could send Alyosha with To Be Free last year, we had all documents on our hands which could prove our innocence but we asked EBU. They didn't want any scandals + the beginning of the songs was really similar indeed (not plagiarism but still it wouldn't be good for us) so we decided to record the new song within 2 days. I mean, we asked EBU what would be good for them.
Imo, Belarus should contact EBU and make appropriate decision before the deadline, unlike us in 2010 they have plenty of time still :)

Re: BELARUS 2011

Is this just a lame excuse by 1) EBU who can't tolerate the song for political reasons or 2) Belarussian broadcaster making up an excuse after all the negative feedback to send something new?

Anyways, now maybe we can get that Irina/Zeljko song afterall, or something else with Irina *cross fingers*

And oh, I'd rather have this silly disqualified propaganda song than Koldun again!!

1) This is rather political for Belarusians but not outside of Belarus... unless mentioning USSR became a taboo now

2) They don't give a dam

3) Instead of lame "excuses" I'd rather bring a normal and the MOST obvious version ---> BTRC wants to please the president & Belarusians   they want to make the entry more Belarusian ie. more patriotic and more pop-rockish.
They have no choice. Look at the ridiculous amount of the entries  + this is not the 1st time when BTRC wants to adjust ESC entry for themselves.

hehe, of course I have it, but it's a rip,

btw, that song was composed by our composer who composed our own 2011 entry ... almost with the same song title, though both songs are as opposite as possible

Re: BELARUS 2011

Oh I didn't realize it was written by a Ukrainian! Haha but yes songs are 'far away' from each other in style.
So there's no studio version of it?

Well it shouldn't be taboo, but somehow I feel EBU got a political lame reason for not allowing it. I mean, just as much as the song is political for Belarussians, the perception of it by EBU etc. is also political in a way.

2) They don't give a dam

I dunno to be honest, in the end of they day I think they want a good position, afterall this is the country that "bribes" commentators in Eurovision with vodka

How is "pop-rockish" more patriotic? If they loved their country that much, obviously ethnic song and in own language would prove it more..

And the new lyrics are just silly and boring, atleast the past one were like here we come!

If Lukashenko and his team wanted to prove a point without making fools out of themselves in Eurovision, and they want to prove their patriotism, we would have got something more respectable, something more in touch with the own country's musical tradition and its own language.

Oh well, I wouldn't expect them to understand that anyhow.

btw what's going on with the supposed performing of the song prior the September 1st rule?? So far it seems not official.

Re: BELARUS 2011

^ if you knew their music history you'd knew that pop-rock is "their" genre and it's been very popular since ex-USSR times.
The new lyrics wasn't official btw. It was a wrong text.

as for "bribery" with vodka. When we go to guests we take vodka or some products, coming with empty hands is not acceptable, when we go to someone or when we expect guests + every country has its own promo party where they "bribe" journalists with alcohol ;)

If they change the music the 1st September rule would become unneccessary.
