10th of my "ESC entrants in watercolour" project (though I suck at drawing muscular bodies :p ) :

I think we can come to a conclusion this man can sing. Now we just need to know how he performs with the actual minus-one track and the staging. The staging will definitely make or break this song, although it's a great song, but it lacks the climax that it very much needed to stand out. I really hope he qualifies to the finals.

So it seems like Chingiz is going to sing in falsetto for the chorus. I hope he will be able to nail the vocals 'live'. Because it's going to be quite challenging to change the singing styles in between sections of the song. I am not worrying about the staging because Azerbaijan definitely will do well with staging. I am more concerned on Chingiz's ability to sell the song and of course the sustainability of his 'live' vocals.

After watching the video I am worried. But he probably will bring at least three backing vocalists on stage (Maybe César? :D).

He definitely needs backing vocalist to help him. I think likely why he sounded "unpleasant" in that video, it's because it's just him and the piano. With backing vocalist and the track, I will think it will help him sound better. I am just worried he will struggle, because he need to change his vocal range between verses and chorus. He has to make sure he will be able to change it without struggling. If not, he is going to sound really bad.

I just rewatched «X My Heart» for the first time since the semi. It's even worse in retrospective. The complete first half is not really good. When Aisel is joined by the other singers and dancers it comes to life.

I hope they learned from that.

I definitely didnt see Azerbaijan finished the second semi. But that will surely be helpful. I do see this as a rather safe qualifier though - if Chingiz vocals are good (including him NOT singing a lot in falsetto!)I do expect a great staging for the song.
Truth is still in my personal top 10 based on the studio version.

Azerbaijan is a secured qualifier but this draw may help for a very good placing in the semi-final!

If they didn't qualify with such a good placing, I don't know what they'll do. I am sure they are going to give a spectacular staging if not the song itself wouldn't warrant be the final act of the night. Seems like a final qualification is in the bag unless they really mess up, which is frankly very unlikely. I mean Aisel did her best with a generic song (but I love it to bits, it was no. 1 fav last year and I still think she was robbed) but the staging was pretty good to be honest. So now it all falls on Chingiz, I hope his vocals doesn't fail him and he can really sell the song.

The song was decent but what I think really did Aisel in was that she was being forced to sing a song in a genre she does not really identify with. It came across as too contrieved and polished. I'm sure Aisel is a great singer, but that was not her genre and it clearly was not her song, either, and it showed. From what I've seen, the same is being done with Chingiz. Anytime the broadcaster does that, they risk having the artist come across as disingenuous and insincere. I haven't seen Chingiz perform this song, but I'm curious as to whether he even likes it, and how he will sell it.

I agree.

She released 2 songs after ESC, 'More Emotion' and 'We Run'

They are both much less daring than X my heart, but I seriously think those 2 would have done much better than that one, cuz they feel genuine and more 'her'.
