The real fraud last year is the way the Danish and Swedish juries voted. This is something that should be investigated by EBU. Azerbaijan was the second big favorite to win Eurovision and the jury of Sweden gave them the 15th place while the Danish jury gave the 18th place(!!!!!) , 18th and 15th place to a song that came second and was voted from almost all countries!! If this is not a scandal then what is a scandal?

And btw, ending up second (if cheating is involved) is hardly an accomplishment made on solid grounds ... which makes your theory here even more odd...

I don't think they're withdrawing? I actually dunno why everyone believes that will happen. ESC is simply a too important tool for them to promote themselves to Europe, I mean they don't spend all this cash on nothing right?

I hope they have another giant karaoke competition where people off the street attempt to sing classic Eurovision hits in english and other exotic languages.

... just so they can pick an already pre-determined winner and import another song (and everything that comes with an entry) from abroad

As I said already yesterday though, I didn't expect them to withdraw so this confirmation doesn't comes as a surprise.

I cross my fingers for something local for a change, but I'll probably be doing that in vain.

Yeah, basically. I don't even know why they bother with the selection show. It seems to have a million rounds and is very poorly filmed. The audience look even more miserable and offended by what they are watching than a belorussian audience witnessing (the legend) Anastasia Vinnikova give a rendition of "Born In Belorussia". It is very entertaining though. There have been some comedy gold moments.

Local flavour would be wonderful. It depends on whether Azerbaijan want to win or not though.... I think they want to win.

Yeah, I actually love the Azeri pre-selection because it's just hilarious, I just wished that they would be just a bit more daring and genuine with the actual entries they end up sending to ESC.

Yeah, this is the issue. They don't seem to be in ESC for the fun of it, it's all just a promo campaign and a calculated move to win. It's a bit sad, I mean obviously it's a contest, but they are desperately trying to act all "western" (Swedish acting wannabe American to be precise) instead of just showcasing their own. I mean you can still be a westernized country with local rhythms.

I always hated Azerbaijan buying entries from other countries but now i can see why,they can't do it by themselves.The winners are always amazing but the others are always fail.

I hope they make me eat this post also.

Seriously though, what is it with Azeris and the English language? How difficult is it to learn song lyrics and repeat them as you heard them?

Oh, and top selection there, but my jaw really hurts now...

In 2013 they had a great song and an amazing stage presentation and that the Swedish jury thought that there were 14 (!!!) and Danish jury 17 (!!!!!!!!!) BETTER songs than this one is the biggest FRAUD of 2013 and it really must be investigated because it could happen again in 2014 with another country.
