Yes, but the equivalent exists in other languages as well. You have your version, Turks have their version, Armenians have theirs and Persians have theirs. To say and promote this song as exclusively Azeri is completely inaccurate when all four of those peoples have this song with different words.

In Turkey, this song is also known as Erzurum carsi pazar (Erzurum turkusu) and is widely popular in Eastern regions like Erzurum, Igdir and Kars. And do you know why this song is so popular there? Well, because those are areas with a very large Azeri population, that's why. Moreover, the Erzurum dialect (as well as Igdir and Kars dialects) of the Turkish is heavily influenced by the Azerbaijani language. In fact a person from Baku will have less trouble communicating with people from Erzurum than someone from Istanbul. (Erzurum has two sister cities - one is Baku and the other one is Tebriz )

but, of course, according to you this is not an azeri song. this is an armenian song.

A while ago I talked to one armenian about this song and when I asked him to tell me what this song was all about it. He said that Sari Gelin in Armenian meant... mountain lion!

now, if you would have said that Shalakho is a song that is shared by several nations I would have agreed with you. In Azerbaijan and in Georgia and in Armenia a lot of people know Shalakho and consider it theirs and I, for one, wouldn't have an audacity to claim that it is exclusively an azeri song. But I would still argue that no one plays it better than Aftandil Israfilov

The person you spoke to doesn't speak Armenian very well, then. Sar means mountain, and sari means something that comes from the mountain. Gelin doesn't mean anything, but the closest word to that is gayl, which means wolf. The Armenian translation of this song translates to, "vard siretsi", which means, "I loved a rose".

Now you are saying "you have your version"; however before you said "it is not belongs to Azerbaijan". This song popular in our language, probably the is couple versions. I just wanted to mention out the word belong. And yes you missed Azerbaijan.

My point is that to promote this song as exclusively yours is inaccurate and extremely misleading. The only error in my initial message was "it does not belong [exclusively] to Azerbaijan" because it is shared by 3 other groups. This song is no more Armenian than it is Azeri and vice-versa.
