it is really possible. 50/50 that we'll stay or withdraw.

and yes Narmishka, I'd prefer internal selection. The interest towards selection this year was so low that next year nobody but contestants families will watch it if we have heats again.

So just change the selection method then??

I don't see why you should withdraw? It's not as if you've flopped during the contest or anything. I think one major problem is that the public probably feel left outside of the actual decision since you tend to import a foreign (Swedish) product and they have no say in the song selection, just artist selection.

If we're really frank, I can get if the majority believe that these songs doesn't really represent Azerbaijan in a sense, it's all just business so the broadcaster takes away all the excitement that could be. The public have no say really, obviously there would be a lack of interest.

maybe you are right, but our people are so weird, during the selection process when they have a right to vote, go to the studio and support their faves they pay no attention and don't want to move a finger. but after selecting someone everyone starts talking- why this one, he/she is awful, we'll be ashamed again and so on. so, I want an internal selection of a singer and public vote for a song as in 2008.

I see, but then again the public are not stupid, they know that it's just a charade since they have no say in the song choice.

I agree: Internal selection (1-3 acts) but with song selections (1-5 songs/act - depending on how many acts in the running). I think this way interest will get some boost again.

Idol-ish selection (with mostly amateurs) and then choose a foreign song over the head of the people is the worst combo imo.

No offense, but Azerbaijan is becoming a parody of itself in Eurovision. What a waste of time.

Host and all and all they could come up with was yet another generic Swedish imported product? Either there's a major lack of self-confidence or there really doesn't exist any talented local composers/songwriters

I hope I'll be happily surprised though, but on paper it looks very meh.

And here I awaited an actual Azeri product for a change... oh well :?
