In the last couple of years, only a single entry per semi final would have been different and I don´t think that Cyprus 2022 would have added anything to a "freak and circus" competition.

The "silly/freak" entries have been quite unsuccessful back in the late 00´s as well (even when we had 100% televoting) = Dustin The Turkey, Casanova, Leto Svet flopped as well as the garbage and trashy pop songs like :mt: :by: or :cz: - none of them qualified.

"Wolves Of The Sea" qualified and even managed to get a decent to respectable placing in the final but such entries have already become less popular - I really think that Eurovision - as a competition - as evolved and even though there are disparities between jury points and the televoting in recent years, the qualifiers weren´t really that different + the televoting has been quite open for contemporary and quality entries as well.

+ We´ve the freak and silly entries in the 50/50 system as well (Montenegro 2012, San Marino 2012, Romania 2014, Germany 2021.... say hello)

This is absolutely the case, in the last 5 years or so almost nothing in the list of qualifiers would have changed with the new system. People talk about the voting change as if the juries and televoters ranks have been completely reversed in the past years, and as if anything that isn't quirky or pop-ish gets immediately voted down by the televote, and that is just not the case at all. Especially in the semi-finals, actually.

The 2004 to 2009 years was the era of circus acts and diaspora televoting.

Every winner except for Serbia, or not really tbh, put on a crazy show with a massive ejaculation with Fairytale.

the winners since 2010, thanks to juries, are way more decent and relevant, and so Eurovision as a whole.

by abolishing juries for the semis, they lay the groundwork for stupid acts to prevail and for their own irrelevancy going forward. It’s a testament of the incompetence of the EBU to establish a fair jury vote, by vetting the jurors and make them sign all sorts of liability contracts.

First of all, that 10sec snippet is the catchiest thing ever

Also,
I agree with the total removal of the jury for the semis being a bad decision, but if it's going to backfire in the form of absolute unhinged entries like the Austrian one - then I'm all here for the fun times :D

Joke entries might have not done so well in the past, but today we have power of the meme that can do a lot for a song.

This year we also have global vote and which songs trend the most globally? Most meme songs👍

The only song that haunts me is the Sigma meme song

Fun fact: my life motto is, don't chase trains, don't chase guys, they chase you.....

Forscher wrote regarding how they chose the act:

„Es gibt eine nationale Jury + eine internationale Jury aus Personen mit ESC Bezug + 200 Mitglieder der OAGE (ein Netzwerk von 40 Eurovision Fanclubs aus der ganzen Welt), die bei einem exklusiven Livestreaming ihre Reihung erstellen. Das Gesamtergebnis ist dann die Basis für die ORF-Entscheidung.“

At least we secured 12 points from Serbia this season. But her 2020 entry was amazing.

I mean to be honest you can't really judge based on that very short snippet. It's bad audio quality and we didn't hear anything from the verses. So let's wait and see. It can still go in both directions!

Why do you think so. I mean only because she has got balkan roots, I don't think she is well known in :rs:?

Who is Christal Ball btw and why is it a reliable source? You all seem to be so sure about it, did I miss something?

They leaked many entries successfully the past weeks (almost everything right). And our dear BorisBubbles knows a few of them and says they are reliable. :)

The problem is that mountain Germans are only good at PR. We convinced the world that the guy from Braunau was German and Beethoven was Austrian.
