Amen, I guess
You said that it's time for us to put
Our love to rest
Dressed in black, you left my neighborhood

No, I never thought you'd bury me and you
No, I never thought we'd die

But amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Amen

I bet it's just another funeral to you
But for me it's the end
A marching band are playing gone too soon

No, I never thought you'd bury me and you
No, I never thought we'd die

But amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?

'Cause it all feels like you didn't even try
Oh try, oh try, try to save us
All this time wasted on a lie

But amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Amen, amen, yeah
Are you getting what you wanted?
Are you getting what you wanted?
Amen

From all I heard from him he seems to be pretty proud of his songwriting, so I rather doubt he‘ll accept a song from somebody else for Rotterdam. Also I hope he goes for uptempo. His dancing is a huge asset that he should definitely use.
Too late for hopes. He mentioned already last month that it will be a slower song with meaningful lyrics. But still we can hope for a midtempo song ;-) He has got a great voice, for sure he is a great performer of ballads too.

Unfortunately i cant remember, where i read his interview. His words about the esc entry were a bit cryptical. it reminded me a bit of Paendas statements about her song. he said something like not everybody will like his song, but it would be important for him that orf stands behind his song. i could imagine that the song is about racism since Vincent often faced racism and even this year when he did advertising for Spar. Quite sure that he wrote at least the lyrics himself.

To be honest, that gives me some encouragement. It's just what he can do best. Vincent himself would strongly disagree with my opinon. If the ESC takes place without a live audience, a ballad is more effective than an up-tempo song.

he has a wide range in his voice. it is perfect for ballads. they decided on the song very early. that could be a good sign. at the end it is a matter of personal taste of course. if it is a ballad i hope it will be modern and not too cheesy.

I just heard a song excerpt for the ESC by Vincent that was rejected by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF. The song was called "Dumb Human Bias". It was rejected as "too aggressive". The first objection was the title. It went like this : "When I hear this for the first time ... does that mean I'm dumb?" The song would have been exceptional for the ESC and was a danceable number and had nothing to do with the "musical genre".
The music came along pretty aggressive, but the lyrics would have been a rejection of racism, homophobia and violence.

thus the entry probably has similar lyrics but total different music. i guess we still will get an austrian entry that will get a lot of attention and that usually was not a bad thing in the past. i did not expect a surprise from vincent, now i am quite curious how his song will be like.

This weekend there was a working meeting of Vincent among others with Marvin Dietmann and the manager of "The Unity Dance".
I guess.
Marvin Dietmann: it was about the ESC.
The Unity Dance: there is something to dance to.

it is possible to dance to a ballad. xdance2 maybe it is midtempo.
vincent said that you're mine was the song that he wanted to perform in rotterdam. i am very happy that orf did not accept it. listening to his album i really hope that someone else wrote the song. i guess so, otherwise he probably would have waited with his album.

„you‘re mine“ is a nice little song. like there are 1000k of its kind around. the lyrics are very very simple. originality is spelled differently. we have seen vincent write a lot of songs in a short time which is one explanation for their limited quality. I really fear he insists on singing his own stuff. in moments like this i think of the greatness of conchita when she stated: „I‘m not a great songwriter, I leave that to people who are more skilled in this field“

1:38 The encounter with one member of this forum and a particular blog seems to have had a deep impact on Vincent.

That‘s the first song of Vincent that I like! I hope he goes for this style in Rotterdam. Angry, raw, authentic. I prefer that to the polished version of him in „Alive“.

That is exactly what impressed me so much about the song "Dumb Human Bias" which the ORF rejected. I only heard part of the song and was shocked to hear a completely different Vincent. Angry - that's the word I was looking for, not aggressive, as ORF put it. But the ORF apparently doesn't want any controversy.
