Amen, I guess
You said that it's time for us to put
Our love to rest
Dressed in black, you left my neighborhood

No, I never thought you'd bury me and you
No, I never thought we'd die

But amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Amen

I bet it's just another funeral to you
But for me it's the end
A marching band are playing gone too soon

No, I never thought you'd bury me and you
No, I never thought we'd die

But amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?

'Cause it all feels like you didn't even try
Oh try, oh try, try to save us
All this time wasted on a lie

But amen, amen
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Amen, amen, yeah
Are you getting what you wanted?
Are you getting what you wanted?
Amen

I was super nervous about Vincent's song. Last year, "Alive" being not a disaster was among the bigger surprises of the year, so lightning striking twice and Vincent delivering something solid seemed very much in doubt. Better than solid seemed out of the question. Imagine my surprise when the absolutely beautiful beginning of the song came on. It was fully looking at 10/12. Unfortunately, it pretty thoroughly threw away its momentum once that chorus hit. The chorus sounds like something that would accompany commercials for the season finale of a hospital procedural and wrecks the song's momentum. Still, the memory of that gorgeous first verse lingers, and that's good enough for :6: points. Miraculously, that's the same amount I gave "Alive." Consider disaster twice averted, Austria.
After all the hype of how bad the audio quality was and how much better it would be with clearer audio, I stand by p much everything in this review :p

Well, almost everything. The opening part that I was so enamored with sounds a lot sleeker in studio, and I've grown a little less enamored with it. It's certainly still a highlight in the song but not so much of one that I'm like "WOW THAT'S AMAZING." I think I'll downgrade to :5: upon hearing this new version because I'm a Luddite hater who doesn't know anything about music less of a fan of this version than the previous.

The juries are gonna have a fan-wank over this. It’s gonna be Cesar Sampson Part 2.
It’s nice. Very dramatic. Not something I would buy. 6 points.

From 00 to 0:40 is a wasted time cause nothing happens and audience will by the time chorus kicks in either go to toilet or lose interest.

Waking up and listening to this song ... so beautiful ... one of the best Austrian entries in this decade! xheart People may call it generic, but in my eyes there are good generic and bad generic songs. And I loved this one from the very first listen.

But why such lyrics though. This is eurovision. Thank God for el diablo, tick tock and andrenalina. Like i said, i have to be objective even with such lyrics, weak verses till 00:40 And you cannot have empty space in your song and even with repetitivnnes of hey man, this is still better song than alive. Does he have chances to qualify even if it's him performing, even if it's 1st half of sf and all mentioned before, he does. I'm surprised he has more likes than dislikes. Good for him.

I managed it to never visit the "Haus des Meeres". Is it really possible for a normal visitor to go to the rooftop?

Austria in this decade is literally just this and 'Alive'? And the latter isn't even canon because it never went to ESC.

Anyway, with the vid now being officially out, I'll just be honest and say: ORF had better put some brilliant ass staging out of their arse because Austria, you're in danger girl.

Not just the song being a forgettable ballad (that appeals to the grandmothers, but like... they're gonna pledge their baggy fannies for Uku the second he appears on stage), Vincent himself is so sullen-faced throughout? I know the song doesn't help but... "Is it true?" was about a devastating break up and Yohanna was smiling benignly throughout. Could you at least attempt a smile, Vince, could you do that yes, mhmm? Vince the Prince should be your goal, not Vincent Price.

I mean even if he qualifies, that shouldn't be ultimate goal. each country should at least nach top 5 streben. Even San Marino isn't anymore satisfied with just qualifying. Austria got 2 wins, you know what I'm saying. This is still competition at the end of the day. Gay olympics as ppl like to say.

I know you hate being schooled by zany Austrians, but a decade are 10 consecutive years. 2011 to 2020 is even a perfect decade, but 2014 to 2023 is also a decade.

Austria has never produced amazing music videos for their Eurovision acts. It's a waste of money only to get fandom all hyped up. For what? What's the pay-off? I am wondering why people still draw conclusions from the video, after all these years of belittling our entry that then went on to slay. (Paenda was ready to slay as well, but well)

And now I know why Yohanna didn't click with me. It was her zany smiling.

---------------

This song has me worked up so hard. I am wandering to and fro, what shall I do with my Faith, should I join a denominational church or a non-demonational group of believers. I am a bit confused and depressed actually, and realizing that I am far off the narrow path to salvation. I don't know if my own speaks to me, or God, or the devil, and I really need a church to go, but at the same time, any church is a trap as well. Bueno, the struggle continues.

I'll take that as a concession of your fear that this song is not gonna flop.
