Re: AUSTRIA 2019

@Lindon: You must be kidding?! Christina Stürmer is one of the most bland and untalented singers I know! She didn't deserve any of her former success... Uninteresting voice, cheap and simple songs, horrible German German pronunciation... :? :?

Calling Trackshittaz talented isn't better either... :?

I like the sound of Christina Stürmer's voice, she's singing straight forward without belcanto. Her "Bundesdeutsch" German is a little artificial if you hear her speak afterwards. That is the reason why Cesár Sampson doesn't want to sing in German, because you have to disguise the Austrian German to be successful in Germany.
I was a little disappointed years ago at the begining of her career when she revealed in the final of Starmania that she loves to sing this German German stuff. That was the ultimate reason why she lost Starmania, because in every show and every decision before the last performance she won easily as the later published results showed. But the defeat and her desire to sing in German German also is the ultimate reason for her enormously successful career. Nobody can remember the winner of Starmania today, who was this guy singing with her for those who don't know:

It is also interesting to hear the boss of Universal Music Austria saying "The public decides who will win but, thank god, Universal Music decides what is on a CD" Not only at the ESC is a divide between public and jury.

Trackshittaz? - I was kidding. But I read yesterday the thread of the year of Nadine Beiler's participation in the ESC and it is full of admiration for them, even from Matt and full of insults and disregard towards Nadine Beiler. I was on the side of Nadine back then and was very amused to read all that stuff.

Not quite my cup of tea but I can see potential if he gets a good song! As a newcomer he would also fit very well into Eberhard Forchers "target group"... (see NT and CS)

We would also keep up or new "tradition" of sending male artists with English artist names....

We can stop the search, we have found the jackpot at the end of the rainbow. Like the positive vibes he is transmitting. Love the instrumentation of Coming Home and the verses, of course a "Na, Na, Na" chorus would be a no go at the ESC.
Here a practice in covering some years ago:

This year's contest was broadcasted by an American radio station, so it was without the visuals . They assembled a panel of music experts who had little or no knowledge of the ESC. Of the twenty-six songs in the Grand Final, there was a clear winner from the panel, with all bar one of the top spots going to Austria . Perhaps unsurprisingly the audio performance from the Netherlands all scored highly and was the only other country to top a panellist’s list, and was second with those who rated Austria first..

So it has obviously great appeal to music industry people even when they are not familiar with the ESC. It works outside the ESC bubble.

Yesterday in Vienna.

"You're already looking good, but it isn't loud enough yet"
Quick-witted.

The whole focus of this open air is tonight, because Austrian legend Rainhard Fendrich ("I am from Austria" here you can find his legendary concert in 1992 https://youtu.be/e2UZNpJ5Ri4 ) will enter the stage and it is expected that he will defend another Austrian pop music legend Wolfgang Ambros who is in a heavy dispute with parts of the government. Rainhard Fendrich isn't known for restraint on political topics.

Re: AUSTRIA 2019

I have to correct my remarks about Rainhard Fendrich in my previous posting. As you see in this short clip he didn't use the event to add more division. Quite the contrary, in fact he was very gracious and made a statement which fits in its university also to the values of the ESC. With my limited English skills, I tried my best to translate his statement to ORF.

Music is not just there to criticize, but to build bridges to people who disagree, without hate, without ranting. That's the advantage, the word sung finds the way to the heart faster than the spoken word. When an artist has to leave the stage, the audience will decide. Music is still a voluntary event.

I'm so sorry. It would have been the better choice to delete the origin remarks or rather don't write them at all.

Re: AUSTRIA 2019
