I wouldn't mind that either, but I very much doubt it. We'll learn more about it tomorrow ;)

Let's hope for the contrary to teach all the intolerant and hateful persons in the world a lesson, who are so offended by only by a tiny detail in the looks of a person.

Right attitude, yep: in this Song Contest let's not allow ourselves focus on the song, but on the look.

Haters should watch ESC with their eyes closed.

Nonsense. It's annoying how peolple insist on assuming stuff to fit their narrow frames. Anyone who knows me understands I would never like this song regardless of the singer. I'm not buying the conchita package either though.

Well, that certainly looks and sounds good. There are no extra gimmicks, the phoenix in the background fits in for obvious reasons, and Conchita sings really well. The bar for today's rehearsals is now set quite high - given how well previous days have turned out as a whole, it already was, but in the very strong second semi, everyone needs to get the maximum out of their performances.

I also like how these are the first rehearsals and they seem to be going at it seriously from the start.

Unfortunately the biggest is still on his face. That will stop a great song from winning.

The third day of rehearsals is kicking off with Conchita Wurtz from Austria.
The performance opens with dark lighting and gentle smoke showing only the slim silhouette of Conchita. Near the end of the first verse she appears out of the spotlight.
She is wearing a dark glittery fitted blazer and full length black pencil skirt.
Red fire-like lights appear during chorus and more smoke begins to fill the stage.
The backdrop becomes engulfed in roaring flames which transform into ‘phoenix’-like wings. The performances crescendos and ends with Conchita throwing up her hands.
Olivia: The moment Conchita is on stage she just nails it. Her vocals were faultless you really see the fire and emotion in her eyes. This is Austria’s strongest entry for years, and I would be truly shocked, judging by these rehearsals, if she fails to qualify.
Madeleine: With the fire wings projected behind Conchita the song comes off really powerful, it’s a nice effect that really is perfect for the song. Her voice is impeccable (like usual) and she really gets the emotion through the camera to the audience. I think the wind machine is a bit too much and it’s really not needed to have that much wind blowing her hair.

I understand they're keeping her face in the dark for the first 40 secs or so of the song? I never thought of that, I think that's a real clever move

People will be connecting with the song and getting curious about what's going on and then suddenly they get this huge surprise. Impact wise, it couldn't be better xup

BTW, no fireworks during the first round of rehearsals but apparently they're going to be pyrotechnics for the second round of rehearsals for Austria.

Don't those backdrop wings ring a bell with Albania 2011? Not a good omen for conchita, and aurela could really belt it out. Not saying conchita can't, she obviously can too. Just thinking that aurela's reason for failure might have been her fierce face and protruding neck veins (terribly unfair :( ). Will conchita's beard work to her favour though?

Oh my God, this is amazing! I am so looking forward to the final... I hope she will really wear that white-golden dress, along with her incredible strong and great voice, the visual background with that golden phoenix wings... it's perfect! I wouldn't mind her winning.

It's like they did in the Strictly Come Dancing performance. No close up for the first thirty seconds.
This way people can objectively hear that she has an amazing voice. xheart
