I was told at six years old
They'd avoid me if my heart was cold
Found it hard to talk and speak my mind
They'd never like the things that I would like

'Cause you're told to play, but you're not the same
As the other kids playing the same game
Tried to jump on in, but they push away
So far away

I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no

Years go by, I tried and tried
My father asked if today I smiled
I said, "Yes I did", but that's a lie
Oh, I always tell those lies

And you run and hide, hide the break inside
Do you realise that the light shines bright?
Through those, oh, who broke inside

I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no

'Cause you never want to be a kind of person
You can work it for those ones who cannot word it
Because you've been the kind of person who felt this pain
Yeah, I felt this pain

So you're gonna leave the pain and find another way to make yourself another game
Maybe one for all to play
'Cause it's not just me who's not the same
We are not the same

I'm not the same, no
We are not the same, no
We are not the same, no
We are not the same, no

I agree with the posts above. "Bounce" was great and btw, it got some recognition somehow. Due to streaming, most of our beloved pop girls fail anyway (unless your name is Taylor or Ariana).

When it comes to the three freshly announced participants, I think that it's a nice way to kick off the AUS NF season.
Isaiah has a beautiful voice. I also enjoyed his 2017 entry (even though it was slightly too calculated and generic). It's a pity hid performance sucked big time.
Jaguar Jonze is promising as well. I didn't like Rabit Hole that much but she's got some artsy-fartsy material under her by which would be a great for Eurovision, for sure. Can't wait to listen to her entry!

Care to give your fellow Sammi stan some extra context? I saw it mentioned here and on .net but I don't see further than CEO being accused of problematic behaviour and Sammi's only connection to him is her being married to his son...
I think that's quite a big deal since I don't think another label would have invested in her the way Sony did since she somehow flopped in recent years (unfortunately, the general public lacks taste).
Her fiancé as well as his father have left Sony after the allegations/accusations regarding the "abusive behavior". I truly believe that her partner and his father were responsible for keeping her signed.

I'm not sure about her contract/record deal, though. But it has always make me wonder why she has never released albums after "Firestarter" and "Bounce" although she recorded many tracks. Instead, we got these useless, low-budget and unnecessary Disco and Christmas albums + the cover album after her victory of that talent show. So basically, "Nine" is her only album full of her own material.

I've read on Popjustice (for sure, a great source for pop news, facts even though their mods are shockingly britneyphobic and abuse some of their powers) that most of talent show winners (in Australian?) are offered a 5-record-deal anyways....this makes me wonder...can't Sony just release her 5th album (since she got so many unreleased tracks left), promote it by making her appear on Australia Decides/Eurovision and release her afterwards so that she can find a label which is truly interested in her and not connected to her fiancé, partner's family and the accusations.

She deserves another shot.

Also, I would gladly ask for Samantha Jade whether she was popular or not. She has released great songs in the past and has a lot of potential, so that's what matters in the end.

I feel my dreams of Dami Im winning 2022 are fading away

I think Isaiah and Jaguar both have lots of potentials! But I'm excited for the other acts!

It's also interesting that the nf will have one Milanov song!

Acts like Dami Im and Kate Miller-Heidke shouldn’t return because they were so amazing. If Australia wins one day, then they could come back as interval acts

you mean he could - possibly, perhaps, who knows - hit the right notes this time, choose shoes that doesn‘t make him look like a circus clown and develop something like stage presence?

Isaiah wasn't even that bad, stop making it sound like he was because of your personal vendetta
personal vendetta? LOL
I have NOTHING personal against him. But hey - he may surprise me!
But the truth is: he produced one of the worst sounds ever heard on Eurovision stage (challangend perhaps by Manel), his choice of shoes (togehther with the decision not to wear socks) was a major fashion crime and while walking like Goofy in old Disney film he looked like a lost puppy that just had been forced to undergo the ice bucket challange. Disprove any of this if you can.

Whether it's personal or not, you have a vendetta when you keep bringing up that terrible note in the semi performance. We all know it was terrible, but it happened in the semi and it didn't have anything to do with his final performance, which was more than fine, especially in the tragedy that was 2017

He came ninth in the end so the entry wasn't as bad as people make it out to be lol. Fans make it sound like Australia sent a turd on stage that year and miraculously came in the top ten. And before you mention the discrepancy between the jury and the public, there's been discrepancies before, ever since, and discrepancies will happen in the future as well

so you can’t disprove me.
fine.
but don‘t call that personal when it‘s not. expressing a few times in a forum what you think of an artist (plus giving concrete reasons why) is far from a „vendetta“. You don’t agree with me - fell free to express that, but don‘t judge me, question my motifs or exaggerate what I said.

on the point of „good“ or „bad“. the fact that many people like something (or in the case of the jury: little people) does not say anything about how „good“ or „bad“ something is. but I think you know that. ;)
btw. Isiah himself does not seem to be that convinced of his first attempt when he refers to it by saying: „but I was a teenager then“ and going on to explain that this time he strives to really show what he‘s capable of. So let‘s wait and see. I‘m happy if he proves me wrong.

Australia has gone downhill since they introduced their national finals.
Eurovision fans in Australia seems to be quite tasteless... I can still remember how they gave like 12 pts to Belgium's "What's The Pressure" and thus, I somehow agree with @Ianp16 's hypothesis....

Not the fans. That was the jury that gave 12 points to Belgium. The televote came at very end of the show, and as we know, the jury and public voting results can be wildly different.

I personally liked the song and thought it was a great opener, but not enough to follow the artist in any way since.
