I was told at six years old
They'd avoid me if my heart was cold
Found it hard to talk and speak my mind
They'd never like the things that I would like

'Cause you're told to play, but you're not the same
As the other kids playing the same game
Tried to jump on in, but they push away
So far away

I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no

Years go by, I tried and tried
My father asked if today I smiled
I said, "Yes I did", but that's a lie
Oh, I always tell those lies

And you run and hide, hide the break inside
Do you realise that the light shines bright?
Through those, oh, who broke inside

I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no

'Cause you never want to be a kind of person
You can work it for those ones who cannot word it
Because you've been the kind of person who felt this pain
Yeah, I felt this pain

So you're gonna leave the pain and find another way to make yourself another game
Maybe one for all to play
'Cause it's not just me who's not the same
We are not the same

I'm not the same, no
We are not the same, no
We are not the same, no
We are not the same, no

I'm quite impressed with this entry, I think with the right the staging it could do well, but then we haven't heard all the songs yet, certainly close to the top of my current list. I would make a few changes to the arrangement for Turin.

In the swimming pool, always stayin' cool
Sheldon is a great singer, but his voice can't help the song being easily forgettable. I see it quite easily Q anyway, i can see the juries digging it, but tbh i don't see televote following them...

:4:.

Yes i'm a bit bitter about losing Voyager, who would've stood out on their own, even tho i have to admit the live version was not as good than the studio one.

Oh gosh, these three minutes were very hard to get through for me. o_O

For me the only purpose of this bland talent show ballad is to show how good he can howl and how long he can keep the notes. Emotions?? Zero!! NADA!! The "hlighlight" with the mask removal looks rather ridiculous if you ask me. His voice is also much to whiny for me and to be honest I had goosebumbs because it sounded so unpleasant. xscared

Qualification for the final?? Sadly I think the juries will save this vocal gymnastics from dying in the semi, in the final it will hopefully crash and burn but I doubt it. xgaah

For me this is really the worst entry :au: has chosen so far. There´s really nothing I like about it, actually it makes me feel bad, and for songs like this there´s only one possible score and this is a big fat :0:!!(n)

I can't stand the entries from Latvia and Israel, but compared to... whatever this is... they actually seem like decent entries 😮

he's got a beautiful voice, but that's about it, because the song barely has any melody in it. I've just listened to it twice and I don't know how it actually goes.

plus it's not a bad thing to feel your song and be genuinely touched by it, but I can't help but think if he's barely holding himself from crying during the performance in a national final, how will he manage his emotions during the actual contest when he gets to sing in front of the whole Europe? he already seemed a lil bit too overwhelmed by them now...

i'm going with :1: just because of his voice

Remember Vincent Bueno from last year? He had a song that was very deeply personal to him but in prioritising the deeply personal, it came at the expense of being more broadly entertaining and accessible to others. There is also such a risk here.

This song is so hard to listen to. Glad it is already over.

Maybe it's because of the times we're currently living in but this is not reaching me emotionally at all and that's a shame. It's a nice performance overall. I can't help but compare it with "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors", where you could literally reach into the soul of the artist and the emotions would hit you like a truck. With this one, it's a bit...too polished? Artificial? I don't want to be too harsh but..yeah. While I'm not hyped for this entry, I'm lowkey shocked by the reaction of most people here. 0 points? I don't think it's that bad

Exactly. It is my first zero point this season. :( Australia could have done so much better.

So far :au: is rather a disappointment at the ESC for me. They started very well in 2015 with Guy Sebastian and I also kinda liked Dami Im in 2016 even though the juries really overrated it, but everything that came afterwards was "meh" at best or just terrible like this year. :(

Honestly, if the song hadn´t been sung by Sheldon, I woud have given it :1: or max :2:
I was really excited about it when I listened it for the first time but it´s such a bland non-event we´ve already heard a zillion times before - the chorus is lazily-written and basically just exists to showoff some vocals.
There´s like no substance - even though he really tried hard and was eagerly determined to compose a song "out of a message" (his own statement)- maybe that´s why it feels so cold, calculated and too try-hard.

Sheldon is such a great vocalist - he deserves a better song.

To me Australia has been a disappointment EVERY year. I liked last year "Technicolor" as audio, but NOT the live performance. It was very weak. If Voyager would have been chosen today, it would have been one of my all-time favorite song EVER. It crushed me that the song didn't win. :(

So you weren´t a fan of 2015 and 2016 as well?? What didn´t you like about these songs??

Guy's song wasn't my thing at all and Dami - her song was "okay", maybe even good, but to me she didn't deliver it live at all. She was completely cold and gave me no emotion. :(
