You don't need to apologise me because you didn't do anything wrong I understand that you are happy that your country participates in the contest and that so far you have achieved great results.
Australia's participation is violation of EBU's rules because only active Members of the EBU have a right to participate in the contest. To become an active Member of the EBU you need to be in European Broadcasting Area and Australia doesn't fulfill the criterion to become an active Memeber. Australia is an associate Member, but associate Members are not allowed to join the contest. You can see it on the following website: http://www.eurovision.tv/page/about/which-countries-can-take-part
The Australian participation, as you are probably aware, was intended to be one-off because of last year's anniversary (that's why Australia didn't participate in semifinals). However, this year we have got no proper explanation why Australia is allowed in. Moreover, EBU refused application of Kazakhstan based on the fact that 'Kazakhstan is outside of the European Broadcasting Area'. Someone asked them why Australia is eligible to participate this is what he/she/they got: https://twitter.com/ebu_hq/status/677802262887026688
This is definitely not a valid reason and there is nothing in the rules stating that once you have been broadcasting Eurovision for 30 years you might take part. The rules haven't been updated as well so for now the fact that Australia is participating is de facto illegal and shows pure hypocrisy of the EBU.
I don't know if this is widely known anyway, but for me the following was entirely new:
Back in 2015 it was the Australian Broadcaster who approached ORF as the hosting channel with the request to participate. Following this, it was the initiative of ORF to invite Australia to Vienna and they had long discussions with the EBU who finally agreed.
I learnt this in an emission on ORF just before one of the semi-finals this year, when Edgar Böhm (the responsible for the ESC for Austria of ORF) told this.
I don't know though who had the idea to make Australia a permanent contestant. But maybe it worked the same way and the swedish TV suggested this.
It's just a detail and it doesn't change anything, but I found it interesting, that it was initially not EBU's idea (as many seem to believe).
Having said this, I am very happy with the Australian entries so far and hope we will get more of that quality in the future.

Anyone else was annoyed by the lyrics?
I mean how much stupider can it get than "My heart beats to the sound of silence"?
And then repeating it over and over shouting it in the loudest way possible.
This masterpiece should've won! It fits right in with other winning songs lately. It's rare a song is better performed live than on the music video.
And what breaks my heart the most is that no one ever wins after being a runner-up

Sorry if my post offends anyone, I don't care which country it is or if Australia should/should not participate but the song would be really a big disappointment of victory if it won. Not that Ukranian song is amazing, but Australia's song is way more boring. I don't get how it could even win jury votes.
