I have a feeling that soon ABU song Festival, will be a preliminary round for Eurovision.
Countries that can participate in this contest,
(Australia,New Zealand,Kazakstan,Japan,South Korea,Indonesia,Vietnam,Sri Lanka,Qatar etc)
would compete in Asiavision,
and then the best 4 or 6 of them, could qualify to the Semifinals of Eurovision.
Don't rule out this idea.
Asiavision started in 2012...
In 2014 EBU introduced us Australia as a guest.
In 2015 Australia is competing.
So don't exclude this scenario. ;)

Are Asian countries as much happy for Australia being part of Asiavision as we are for having Australia in Eurovision?

I suppose Australia is to Asiavision, what Israel is to Eurovision.

this is the best scenario until each continent has its own version of eurovision and i'm a little surprised that USA hasn't make their own eurovision because almost all popular shows are created there

There were talks about it and I think it was FOX that has even bought the idea...but that American Idols success was the reason for they decided to wait with it. Now American Idol is losing ground finally and I am not 100% sure if The Voice and X-factor has really done that well yet, then maybe it will come in the next 10 years or so...if now the american economy stays stable that is.

And about the idea, I don't think it is likely for the near furture, ESC still needs a name change if the asian countries are joining in. That though isn't too far away, I wouldn't be surprised if a new name would be implemented soon.

Well, if only 4 or 6 countries from Asia/Pacific compete every year in the Semifinals (and don't know how many could qualify to the Final),
i don't think it's necessary to change the word "Eurovision".

Given recent developments I'd say Australia is to Asiavision what Australia is to Eurovision.

Basically, Australia is part of Oceania so I don't understand why they should be linked to another continent. Let them have Oceaniavision so that they leave us alone.

"Not only in Australia, but also in countries like Canada and China and even South Africa, people look on this contest as an amazing opportunity for artists and a lot of fun to watch. They admire Europe for building such a tradition. And if they are interested in our European tradition, I think that we should be inclusive and in some way involve them with the Eurovision Song Contest".

So more guests in 2016? Possibly turning this "international guest" to a tradition, or as I said, a change of name and allowing more non-european ones to join.

I think that atm is most possible the first one, having one guest each year.
At least that's what i see for the near future.

I would be totally ok with one guest per year, but it should rotate. If some like Australia become regulars, then I agree with Schlagerman1, the name of the contest has to change. It may be a detail but reading: "Australia won Eurovision"... Bitch please, something does not seem right :D

At the moment the only countries that seem to be interested in Eurovision by broadcasting it are:

I don't really understand why no other continent has come up with a show like Eurovision yet. I think the concept should also work in other parts of the world, like Latin America.

The ABU Song Festival is quite weird. It's like Eurovision stripped of everything that makes Eurovision interesting.
No winner and therefore no privilege to hold the contest in case you win, no voting, no live show (in most participating countries), no fancy stage and big budget. Why would anyone care?
Licensing Eurovision and doing it the same way as in Europe would make much more sense.

Australia is gone after this edition, so there's really no reason for this to happen. Maybe Globalvision will happen one day. ^^
