Re: ARMENIA 2012

I will agree to leave for Baku to take part in Eurovision - Armenian singer.

The singer Sona Shahgeldyan ready to sing at Eurovision in Baku.

Armenian singer Sona Shahgeldyan has expressed willingness to represent Armenia in the Eurovision 2011 song contest in Baku.

"I will agree to leave for Baku to take part in Eurovision. I know there is a high risk, but for strong people even complicated obstacles are surmountable," she told reporters on Thursday.

Emphasizing that Eurovision is a European contest, the singer noted that Azerbaijanis would hardly be able to demonstrate any boldness.

"I think Armenia will take part in Eurovision this year, performing rock-style music. I don't want to name potential participants because no one ever gave my name when asked a similar question. I wish it were the System of a Down or Doriance," she added.

The singer said that she has been asked several times to attend Eurovision's qualification round, but added that she declined all offers, considering the participant's choice pre-arranged.

"I am not used to attending [a concert] for sheer attendance. I have taken part in contests and become a winner since I was twelve. So I will take part in Eurovision in case I know for sure that I will go there," she said.

Shahgeldyan said the she considers New Wave a serious contest, adding that Eurovision is a mixture of politics and show.

In 2010, Sona Shahgeldyan was declared the winner of the New Wave song contest held annually in Jurmala, Latvia.

Re: ARMENIA 2012

In an exclusive interview with partners OGAE Armenia, the Armenian representative of 2006, Andre, stated he would return to the contest if his motherland required it.

Andre stated to OGAE Armenia; “I also want to mention that after announcing the ESC 2011 winner I have received a lot of letters asking to represent Armenia on ESC2012 in Baku. Once I made a joke that I would represent Armenia when ESC is gonna be in Baku. I would say more, many new opened fan-clubs ask me to participate. Sure, I am very adulate and happy about my fans. I`m ready for this step much more than ever. In my nature I`m a leader. So, if my Motherland needs it, I will do it. I know what I want to sing, but let’s keep it secret.”

So why did you start politics then?

Anyways Andre's entry is the only Armenian entry I didn't like so far, so if they're about to send a "comeback" I'd rather have Sirusho or Inga & Anush.

But preferably someone who didn't do Eurovision yet.

I have really high hopes for Armenia. The only entry I liked so far was Eva Rivas in 2010, the rest was just blah. Andre's song was too plain for my taste though I don't know any of his material outside ESC I am not too excited about his possible return.

Why would you have high hopes then? They disappoint you almost every time!

I have high hopes for Armenia, because I love their entries from 06, 08 and 09, as well as 10 to a lesser extent. I hope they learn from their failure in 2011 and send some more ethno pop.

(Someone's going to tell me now that I know nothing about Armenian ethno and that Boom Boom was the most ethnic song Armenia ever sent).

Re: ARMENIA 2012

I don't know, I always have high hopes when I haven't liked the majority of songs from a parituclar country having the approach "It HAS to be good it this year"

And BTW, Mickey you know nothing about Armenian ethno and Boom Boom was the most ethnic song Armenia ever sent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
