Well the Germans call our country "Tschechien" and the Austrians "Tschechei" instead of "Tschechische Republik"

Are you serious? :'D Only veeeery education-resistant people who somehow missed that Czechoslovakia split up would still say Tschechei

I couldn't resist to calculate the outcome of the Semifinals :D these results are based on voting-patterns of the last 60 years and this would be the qualifiers:
Semi 1
1. :gr: - 145 points
2. :ru: - 126 points
3. :dk: - 96 points
4. :ro: - 86 points
5. :nl: - 82 points
6. :am: - 79 points
7. :be: - 75 points
8. :fi: - 61 points
9. :md: - 60 points
10. :rs: - 59 points

Semi 2
1. :se: - 159 points
2. - 150 points
3. :mt: - 122 points
4. :is: - 115 points
5. :ie: - 101 points
6. :az: - 98 points
7. :lv: - 63 points
8. :il: - 63 points
9. :lt: - 60 points
10. :cy: - 55 points

Well I never liked 1st semi tbh (I don't know why it's just the atmosphere). However talking about voting there are some countries that most probably will vote for us

For Chech Rep. the semi seems possitive as well (cause I want them damn much in the final), but I don't really know which countries vote them.

And Poland yuus xyaaay xyaaay xyaaay

*And in Greek Chech Republic is called Chehia (Τσεχία)

In French, we say "République Tchèque", I did hear "Tchéquie" sometimes, but it's not what we would say naturally.

In the region of Germany, where I live ("Oberfranken", about 100 km north from Nürnberg and acutally quite near the Czech border), it´s quite common to say "Tschechei". Sure, more older than younger people say it, but also younger people do it quite often.

Denmark has the unluckiest draw of it all so I would say, that is very possible to see them fail.

Sweden in the other semi has a neutral draw, so there is also a chance for them to fail in what looks like a very wide open semifinal.

Even more so for Azerbaijan, which has no friendly neighbour in its semi.

This means, the winners of 2011 to 2013 could all fail in one year.

Norway also knows how to fail, so why not this year again?

And Russia might get punished by the juries so much, that friendly televotes would not suffice.

Serbia might get just enough points to achieve 11th place in their semifinal as well.

Finland also looks a bit unlucky in the first semi and Greece is overdue to fail in the semis, because they already flopped in some finals, so it's easy to imagine them doing so in a semi.

Turkey and Ukraine are not even in, so: There is a big chance that the most recent winners (except for Germany and Austria) will not be in this year's final.

I keep my fingers crossed for Estonia and Latvia, if they choose the right song, but also their draw looks tough at first sight.

It would be cool to have for once, all these countries to fail at one and see an underrated country or someone that has never won to win for the first time

I don't see Russia failing (by the way, with the big advantage they have, I don't understand why they don't send daring acts, they can't be worried about results...), the juries would have to place them last (like Portugal last year) to counteract the televotes, but I can't see that happening even if everything's possible... even San Marino qualifying so

Sweden will qualify: with Iceland and Norway + countries like Poland, Czech Republic, Latvia that generally are unbiased when it comes to the voting. Same with Greece, as long as juries do not want them to bomb, they'll qualify.

However, I agree for Azerbaijan, a failure wouldn't surprise me.

Otherwise, I hope semi 2 will send some fresh countries to the final. It's true that it looks like a meeting of usually unlucky countries  The results will be interesting.

I'm sooo looking forward to the final draw: who will open/close the semis? who will be given the kiss of death of the 2nd place? who will be screwed/favored on purpose?

Who will get last two places?

How have you come to that conclusion?

:mt: & :ch: could quite easily cancel each other out, I don't think :cy: will make the final with this song. :az: has no friends in this semi and failed to come in the top 10 of the televote when they did have friends in their semi, :pl: have given no official news so it could end up being a disaster & :lt: failed last year with more friends in its semi and with what songs are on offer i can see it staying in the semi's again.
