I believe there was a bit of a mix-up. When Rezarta stole my diary, I think she just saw "Rezarta" and "love for eternity" and assumed that it was a song title suggestion.

YES. I was fanboying over Kaçani's 2014 entry just a couple of days back, and now he's announced to be coming back with Rezarta?! All we need now is a good composer and some decent taste from Albanian NF voters and I'll be supporting Albania quite passionately next May...

Oo, just thought... both Klodian Kaçani's and Rezarta Smaja's entries were composed by Klodian Qafoku. Hopefully that means he'll be back to compose the duet for their song? HYPE

I probably shouldn't get my hopes up too high though... this year showed me via One By One and En Godt Stekt Pizza that great duet acts can be easily robbed 1

Agreed. There can be some great ones - Elina and Stig, Ilse and Waylon, but it can often be a difficult one to pull off.

I loved Rezarta the last few years. I loved Klodian in 2014. I'm concerned that together they will add up to less than the some of their parts.

I don't think Christmas is quite as big a deal in Albania. It was banned (along with all other religious practices) under the communists. Plus, only about one in six people are Christian.

I've been doing some googling.

It's 59% muslim and 17% christian. However, because religion was banned for so long, those people aren't particularly strict in their religions. You won't see many headscarves among the muslims, for example. Nor is Christmas a particularly big thing, although it is now a public holiday. New year's eve is much more important.

I thought this blog post was really interesting. When Christmas was banned, the Albanians basically took all the Christmas stuff and rebranded it for new year.

Good find, I had been curious about that since seeing all the seasonal decorations in commercials (and listening to the delightful Christmas jazz that played on RTSH before the show ) while watching FiK last year.
