The troll inside me wants English just to see the reaction here.

The other part of me is less sure because I'm not sure the current version of the song suits English. Maybe the final version will suit English more.

The troll in me wanted english for "O Mie". The troll in me stays in me for this one however.. though i'd be very interested to hear an english version. She should record both, release them and then make a decision.

Yes and where is A-Lister? He should be here right now. You might have to take over from him for the time being.

He should be on his way to Albania as we speak. Probably scheduled a meeting with the head of Delegation asking for permission to beat Herciana with a wooden spoon until she agrees to sing in Albanian.

Good A-Lister impression!

Also, you just said that if a song is chosen in a language it should stay that way, but Aliona won selection with her song in English, so it should have stayed in English, yes?

The English version of "O Mie" sucked. It's still a pretty melody but the lyrics weren't great (Yes, if I know what they're singing the lyrics matter) and the words didn't work well with the melody. While we haven't heard the English version yet, melodically I cannot imagine that Herciana's song would gain anything by switching languages. Although Albania is one of the few countries who IMO successfully translated a song (Albania 2010 & 2011) so I'm trying to be open minded.

They did a good job in 2010, since the song really screamed for English, but in 2011 I thought they killed Aurela's song with English. They have a pretty mixed record, but like you I shall keep an open mind.

The English version of Aliona's entry was NOT the original one, it was a fabricated pathetic version they sent to the selection... anyone could tell it wasn't meant to be in English, and for ENGLISH speakers to applaud that dreadful English (and lyrics) just because they rather hear a slaughtered version of their own language that they hear every day rather than open their senses to something else (which even was meant for the song) is beyond me...

It was the one that went to selection and won the right to go to Eurovision. Exactly the same as Herciana's song. You can't have one rule for one song and another rule for the other.

The english version of "O Mie" was charming and a delicious troll treatxgaah

I love it for the sheer strangeness

It took me a while to get use to "O Mie" because I heard the English version first and became attached to venus, mars, the maya and the outer space love story :D

Fair point....though for selfish reasons I'm glad Moldova switched languages. But from a fair play point of view I have to agree with you.
