Re: ALBANIA 2011 - Aurela Gaçe - Kënga Ime

I actually think this might need a bit of English to succeed but only 50/50. ;) I hope this will be what happens in the end.

I hope the translation actually helps it, the song itself isn't too bad once you listen to it several times. I just think that the intro is too bland (I like the ethnic sound though) and the build up of emotions and such through the first 1/3 of the song is too slow to catch the attention of the typical Eurovision watchers. I think that's the song's major problem rather than the language that it's in. I cannot discredit that English songs are easily understood by most of the European watchers, but the English language can only do so much for it.

It says that the song will mostly be in English, some lines in Albanian. The new version contain rock elements now, which means that traditionally the new version will differ a lot from the original one. dditionally she added that the song is now joined by three backing vocals, by name Lamont Van Hook, Monet and Beverly. Also did Aurela point out that stated workers abovehave also worked together with Michael Jackson, Madonna and Lady Gaga!!!

Really like this song, hope they don't change it too much. Smart move to go English though, you aren't winning ESC in any other language most of the time.

Aurela's way to Düsseldorf

All we get these days are rumours and unconfirmed news, but why not share them :)

The english version of "Kënga ime" is called "Feel your passion" according to someone who asked a assistant of Aurela's group. According to that very same person the new version was recorded together with "Michael Frondelli (sound maker), JR Robinson(drums), Nathan East (bass), Michael Thompson (guitar)". The new version contain rock elements now, which means that tradionally the new version will differ a lot from the original one.

Aurela has just updated her webpage and confirmed these news. Additionally she added that the song is now joined by three backing vocals, by name Lamont Van Hook, Monet and Beverly. Also did Aurela point out that stated workers abovehave also worked together with Michael Jackson, Madonna and Lady Gaga. We can be curious.

I just have a feeling that my disappointment in this song will be converted into love when I hear the new version. It's an all too common formula Albania uses successfully:

Bland Song Wins NF = ((Lowered expectations from people x Many months of waiting) ÷ Announcement of new version) x Release of new version = Love

Aurela has said a few of the verses in her new version on her fb page :D

Feel my heart, feel the words beat low
I sing my song and the echo flows
And wherever I go, I just want you to know
You're the blood in my veins
...And the love in my soul!

Aurela has a killer voice but I'm very disappointed by the language switch. She better have solid pronunciation, because that's the only thing that's going to justify singing in English. As for the song, I'm waiting for the new version before I make up my mind. The NF version is mediocre at best, which is strange considering she has some awesome songs like 'Hape Veten'.
