I think part of the fact that I'm still sort of feeling ennui comes from the fact that I've been following NF season this religiously for the first time; I should stop doing that, since it'll make me think "oh but it could've been grumble grumble," but when I look at the songs compared to 2014 (a year I loved, by the by), it's pretty strong. Remind me next year to wait until we get the final song.

When this thread started I was like, "NO!? this year is great" but now trying to choose my top 10 I actually had a hard time finding 10 songs I really like. With that said, I really LOVE some of the songs...: Latvia, Romania, Italy

Yeah, I do think that the average quality of the year has declined somewhat since I started this thread. It was looking like a 2012/2014 year at that point (my favourites) but is now leaning more towards a 2011/2013 (average or decent, not bad, some good songs, too many ballads). The songs in the NFs didn't get any worse, but there have been some really confusing choices, both from NFs and internal selections... of the last 10-15 songs chosen, only two or three are able to trouble my top ten :? Some weak reworks haven't helped either.

Still, there are some great countries that are yet to choose, and if all goes well the year's quality should recover from its dip.

I'd planned on opening one myself after all of the songs were revealed - the idea was that we could have a running count on how many people preferred each year without people having to make multiple posts, and that this thread could be a discussion one. Doesn't seem to be working that way though

Yeah, some choices have been totally weird... Wish some countries would have chosen better.... I just hope Sweden will choose a good song

I think that we have been quite unfair by calling 2015 a weak year when the first half of the songs has been revealed.

Personally, I prefer all the Big 5 and Baltic entries in 2015 than last year. They have more potential and more appeal to my ears.
Apart from a few exceptions (like Finland and the Netherlands), I don't think the different 2015 entries are weaker than in 2014.

The Vienna stage can provide a good atmosphere for each song.

I tried to make a top 10 and I have a top 4… yes really I only like 4 songs so far. So for me it's a bad bad year. I hope the remaining countries will add some songs to my "top".
I don't know if the comparison works for me… I mean, i prefer 2014 France than 2015 France BUT 2014 France was in my bottom last year… the songs i prefer aren't at my taste in many cases...

I'm listening to the songs right now. They overlap each other for me. Way too many ballads. Now I want Denmark and Moldova to qualify, just to break the chain of ballands. Yes, this year is extremally weak.

So many ballads mean that the year feels weak, because it's so unbalanced. We need more uptempo, or at least just more variety.

Even though it started as a weak year, I now think it is actually one of the best ones in a while. Almost every song is at least ok, it's just a matter of preference and taste. The only bad thing is that there are too many ballads now.


The song is horrific, but other than that, there is no song that can make someone's stomach to turn around.

I think so too. 2015 will be a strong year. Many good songs and many non mainstream songs. I looking forward for the finale. I will be fantastic.

And I see some contries fail with good songs (there aren't 14 songs the not deserve to qualify.

This year is not weaker then previously. Eurovision is every year basically 90% crap and 10% of something you want to listen to again. Although if it goes too balladish, it's bad, reminds me of the years before Estonia won, when you could just fell asleep during the songs.

Now that we have almost all of the songs, it really feels complete and I see that we actually have a good bunch of songs and a cool bunch of people together, so I'm really excited for the real Eurovision season now, it should be fun like always. But still, I wish Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, Romania, Cyprus and Ireland would've gone with something different. And by that I mean at least half of those countries. Those songs just cancel and bore each other out. When there's too many good-but not good enough-mediocre ballads it just gets really tiring. I also wish Serbia and Moldova would've gone with something different because those are at the last two places of my list right now and I really don't want the cheap 00's Eurovision back in any way. But other than that, the quality of Eurovision does improve with every year, and it is an okay year with lots of good songs and good quality. Nothing really amazing or interesting, but oh welp. I still think 2012, 2013 and 2014 were a lot better and more interesting and I never complained about those years and I was always a lot more optimistic. I remember and love and still listen to a lot of the songs of those years. But right now there are like 10-15 songs so far I don't even bother listening to at all and don't want to, which doesn't usually happen in that big of a quantity, but I do feel at least somewhat satisfied and happy right now. I just reaally wish we would've had more alternative entries though and more different styles over-all and songs that go all the way, not just midway. Still, it's all good, not a weak year, not that bad and it has gifted us some very good songs and interesting and talented artists.

2015 is not a bad year in my opinion. Too few up tempo songs, that is true. A bit more diversity would have lifted the 2015 edition.
But I like my personal top 10 better than I did in 2013 and for sure than way better than in 2014. Actually I have to go a few years back to be just as content with my top 10.

it's still weak though...but comparable to 2010 and 2013
