Re: MOISANTIA ~~~ NSC #94 entry: Owl City - WHEN CAN I SEE YOU AGAIN? (from Wreck It Ralph!) ~~~

Thanks again for voting Moisantia into 16th place in our first NSC - achieving triple figures (with 107 points) was more than I had hoped for, so thank you to all the lovely voters!

On to our next entry... and it's taken from a film. A film that I only just saw last night, and I absolutely adore! Yes, I'm now 30 years old, and yet I was still bouncing up and down with joy to a Disney movie! The movie in question is Wreck It Ralph! The theme song from the credits is Moisantia's entry for NSC #94...

Re: MOISANTIA ~~~ NSC #94 entry: Owl City - WHEN CAN I SEE YOU AGAIN? (from Wreck It Ralph!) ~~~

Moisantia is delighted to showcase their entry for the Folk & Ethnic Spinoff now taking place in Xhanostania.

With our Scottish ancestors still influencing our nation's tastes, we have decided to go with a fantastic live interpretation of an 18th Century Scottish folk song with its origins in the Jacobite uprisings in Scotland in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The version that we hear today has been developed from a re-working of the original lyrics by Scotland's most famous poet, Robert Burns.

Scocha are a self-proclaimed "folk and roll" band who bring traditional folk songs to a more modern audience with their charismatic and energetic performances. They started out in the early 2000's in the Scottish Borders (the south of the country) and have since gone on to find fans across the globe, especially in the US where they were the headline act at the largest Highland Games in the country in 2008 and 2010 as well as being highlights of the Tartan Week celebrations in New York.

We hope you enjoy this catchy song - LEND AN EAR, LEND AN EAR!! ;)

CHORUS:
Ye Jacobites by Name, lend an ear, lend an ear,
Ye Jacobites by Name, lend an ear;
Ye Jacobites by Name,
Yer faults I will proclaim,
Yer doctrines I maun blame
Ye will hear, ye will hear,
Ye doctrine I maun blame, I maun blame.

What is right and what is wrong,
By the law? By the law?
What is right and what is wrong by the law?
What is right and what is wrong?
The weak arm and the strong,
The short sword and the long,
For tae draw, for tae draw,
The short sword and the long for tae draw

(Repeat CHORUS)

What makes heroic strife, famed afar, famed afar?
What makes heroic strife famed afar?
What makes heroic strife?
To whet th' assassin's knife,
Or haunt the Parent's life wi' bloody war, bloody war?
Or haunt the Parent's life wi' bloody war

(Repeat CHORUS)

So let your schemes alone, in the state, in the state,
I let your schemes alone in the state.
I let your schemes alone,
Adore the rising sun,
And leave a man undone, tae his fate, his fate,
And leave a man undone tae his fate.

(Repeat CHORUS x2)

Re: MOISANTIA ~~~ NSC #95 entry: Bim - STOP YOU ~~~

Soooo, thanks for all the votes for Owl City last edition - 18th place in Semi 2 wasn't bad at all, and special thanks to FoFo for gifting it her 12 - shame it was only part of the reju vote though... :(

Anyway, despite some trepidation that my entry could go astray (if you were in the NSC 94 results livestream, you'll understand), I'm revealing my next entry right now. It's a beautiful piano duet from a really talented UK duo that go by the name of Bim. I've loved every song of theirs since they first showed up on the scene a few years ago, and even gained a respectable 9th place in a WLSC with their song "Scream".

This song has gorgeous lyrics, and is pretty much helping me through some crap in my personal life right now. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Lovely, touching ballad. Amazing voices :D Best of luck!

Thanks mate - appreciate that. I've been looping this since it was released on Wednesday last week, so it had to be my next NSC entry. Might not find the biggest audience, but if even a couple of people get something from it, then I'm happy :)

Re: MOISANTIA ~~~ NSC #95 entry: Bim - STOP YOU ~~~

Soooo, just before the results show of NSC 95, I need some advice. For those that didn't follow Moisantia in WLSC, my preferred music styles have generally been dancey pop (like Animal and When Can I See You Again from NSC 93 & 94). Bim's track has been a little bit of a change for us, and I want to know whether you guys would be keen to hear different styles in the coming editions (more specifically, next edition) or whether you're keen for some more poppy dancey stuff (perhaps with a slight twist).

Any opinions will be considered ;)

Pop with a twist is awesome, as is something new altogether! Excited to see what you come up with :D

Well, I think I'm going to go for the slightly different style. More pop stylings will be sure to return in the future, but I can't get the current song I have in my head out so I reckon I'll send it to NSC 96 ;)

And congrats again on your PQ man - you had a storming second half of the voting. I did enjoy the song - it just wasn't quite my bag and didn't grab me as much as other songs this edition.

Where do you guys chat now, Trillian? ;)

Thanks for the input ronny ;)

And that's what I feared - Skype never worked for me since I tried to install it in my laptop over 6 months ago, kept crapping out. Might need to try again though - miss the random chats that I popped into when I could get onto MSN! ;)

to be honest i dunno how trillian works, maybe it would be better...dunno
But the best would be when we all use the same, or at least compatible-software

My understanding of it was that it was a program that brought together all previous IM programs (MSN, AIM, ICQ...probably others I never used) into one program. It had a fairly similar interface to MSN years and years, but has probably changed.

Maybe you could send one of the many talented singing/artists emerging from the Glasgow underground scene? ;D

Well, the problem with that would be which rat to select and from which underground station?

Oh, hang on - you said underground scene, not underground. My bad.

[/really cringeworthy attempt at humour]

Re: MOISANTIA ~~~ NSC #96 entry: Frank Turner - RECOVERY ~~~

Sooooooo, it's time for the roll call and to thank all the wonderful nations that voted for us in the last edition!

Thanks so much to the following nations:

:12: - ::zch ::big ::ros ::sun (seriously - I never expected 4 12's - so glad this song meant as much to you as it does to me!)
:7: - ::toh :ch:l
:5: - ::kos ::crp
:4: - :be:r
:3: - ::dop ::per
:2: - ::rum
:1: - :za:p

21st place out of 29th is just fine for me, since I sent this song with the hope of introducing it to more people who might not have discovered it otherwise, and I hope that I managed that ;)

================================================== ==========

So, on to NSC 96. And there is this one song that I absolutely adore but I have the strongest feeling that it'll flop if I send it, and that would leave me feeling more than a little gutted. So I've decided to go with a pretty new song in a style that probably wouldn't be easily associated with me. I found it during one of my fairly regular YouTube trawls where I seem to just click on the top recommended videos until I found a song that I love. This one jumped out at me from the story-telling in the chorus, and conviction of the singer's vocals. The chorus ain't half catchy either! ;)

Soooooooo, without further ado....
