Mihran: preparing for natioanal selection at "Eurovision" is very easy
The preparation of participants in the national selection for Eurovision-2010 ", call for proposals ends on February 1 and many artists are already busy with rehearsals performances.
Exclusive interview with singer Mihran, who is currently in the United States and is preparing a room for their duet with Emmy for the national selection in Armenia.
- How are the preparations for the performance ?
- I have got a lot of ideas on the show for the national selection in Yerevan. In Armenia we have come to the part number ready, and after Emmy joins us, we will proceed to the daily hours-long rehearsals. Here, our work style is somewhat different. As a team we will have professional dancers, working with such world stars as Madonna, Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, it is sufficient to rehearse a couple of days over the number. This helps to better remember the material and with fresh perception to go on stage. Our rehearsal process is very dynamic, and as Emmy during the stay in America, 10 hours a day spent with me to the dance studio and choreography, her involvement in the process, not slow down the tempo.
How have you become known in Armenia?
- In general, the specific purpose to enter the Armenian show business never was. My drive was manufactured in the U.S. and in Europe, the same story with my video clips. However, in the past three years, when I arrive in Yerevan, I gladly accept invitations to various transmission and will present their videos and new songs. To be honest, I can not consider myself a part of show business Armenia, since it does not earn funds with their music in Armenia. Incidentally, when I came out my first video «Armenia», in Armenia, I have heard many accusations that it is better not to dilute their national music instruments, and to remain in his own style in its purest form. I tried to explain that this song and video primarily focused on the Western viewer, which I would like to introduce the rich musical culture of his country, not going beyond my style. For America and Europe is something new, here, if we look to the United States all the clips in general are the same, in the same style.
- How is your singing career in the U.S.?
- In the United States is very complex system in show business. If you are not a part of the record - a company or a label, no one in the rotation to let your clips and songs will not. I am not yet ready to conclude a record - by a contract, since this is an artist himself may be the Internet itself, and producer and manager, and sell more CDs and receive more income than on record - the company. For example, I myself sell 10 thousand CDs and receive 100 thousand dollars, but can not sell a record company a million discs, and get 50 thousand dollars. The only advantage of the record - companies here in America - is good PR. It's all right, but so far I do not propose here such a contract, which would have convinced me that it is worth sacrificing freedom. All that I offer here, I can do myself - to write songs, film clips, put on a show. I have so many years I go to do with world celebrities, learned that everything for themselves do himself.
- How did your career as a dancer?
- I began to dance when I was 12 years old , and I had the desire to dance professionally. With this strong desire, I went to different dance studios, the casting and in 16 years I got my first role in advertising. Then began a series of shootings in commercials, bit parts in movies. The first major casting, which I passed, was a promo - Britney Spears' tour in 2003 year. From there we began our cooperation with it, played in her videos, dancing in her team, etc. In the 2004th, I went to the casting of Madonna, which lasted about a week. From morning till night we were learning new dances, gradually members are separated, then was a stage of interviews. And so it happened that from about 4 thousand children have left 12 people, one girl, and the other guys. So began my career with Madonna. From 2004 to the end of 2007, I participated in all events, along with it: music videos, shows, presentations.
But this time I managed to appear in commercials, movies, participate in the show. For example, starred in the movie "Dance of the street» ( "You got served"), in the film "Alvin and the Chipmunks-2» ( "Alvin and the chipmunks") prototype for the character of one of the chipmunks was I, that is, its movement, dance and gestures were modeled with me. Another film "17 Again" ( "17 again"), along with shooting in it I wrote down my drive shot clips. That is, both had to have time to deal with several projects. And somehow strange to hear, how can artists 4-5 years to write a single disc. Music outdated.
- With whom you have worked except the Madonna and Britney Spears?
- In addition to Madonna and Britney, dancing with Ricky Martin, the 2007th was with him on a world tour. I danced with Pink, Rihanna, Kylie Minogue, all I do not remember, you have to look at your resume (laughs).
- And how come you decided to cooperate with an Emmy for the Eurovision Song Contest?
- Since last year there was talk that the fans want to see me at "Eurovision" for Armenia, the same conversations on the Internet were about Emmy. Then we have increasingly begun to hear arguments that it would be better to speak to us together. I arrived in Yerevan to participate in a concert of singer Armenchik, met with Emmy, she invited me to this idea and immediately we started to work, everything happened by itself.
- Tell me about the process of recording songs. Were there any conflicts ?
- We have absolutely no conflict. Emmy is very easy to do what is required of her. It so happened that I began to hear her songs co-operation in the same style, and I do not know what her abilities beyond her style. So I waited for her arrival in America, to work together to decide what will be the song. When she arrived, and was able to easily pick up all the intentions and comply with all of the upper class, I was very pleasantly surprised. There were days when in one day was written lyrics, written composition, and it all looked as if we were preparing her for weeks. There were times when the studio with other performers in every way we tried to get a performance that we need, but work off the ground and not moving. With Emmy this simply could not be, all turned out on the fly.
- Tell me about the dancers, who will participate in your room at the national selection.
- All of them are my good friends. We have worked together, traveled all the time on tour, and increasingly feel like family, because when you wake up, eat breakfast, rehearse, play, and live all the time by these people, they are no longer just friends. When I started performing as an artist, they always encouraged and pleased to have participated in my projects. Same thing I always helped as he could.
When I told them about our desire to participate at Eurovision, commented even those who are now on a tour outside the U.S.. Dance with us will be two guys and two girls: Jason Young, he is the main partner of the Madonna. Sophie involved in the last tour, Britney Spears «Circus». Valerie is involved in the last tour, Madonna. Kew danced with Alicia Keys and Missy Elliott.
They have never been in Armenia, have not seen my homeland. However, I have not yet been told that there is cold. Tell them the last day to capture the warm clothes, so they did not have time to change your mind (laughs). I promised them that in Yerevan, they hold great time, show them our sights. I told them that this is an exceptional opportunity to come to Armenia, and they immediately agreed. For them, it will be exotic, and will be very interesting.
-What can you say about the opponents?
- I wish all the other participants in the selection of a good time, do a show. We all have equal chances to win and I wish you all good luck. I have close contact with Razmik Amyan, will be happy to participate in the selection. In songs there are many factors in this contest, which must be present. The singer can be a great performer, but does not follow the format of the competition. I am pleased that all parties to diligently prepare for national selection. But the deal, of course, the viewer, who will choose the most worthy application for participation in "Eurovision-2010" in Oslo. I really love our fans, who for many years by my side.
