So...what a change, return to the winning songs back in the 90's. That's really a change?

congrats ParadiseES on the 10.000 post in the ESC forum

Back to topic. I think that Niamh has a really good voice that is going to touch people and will be remembered which is really important. And it's not a bad song. I wouldn't say it's 90's music.

But at the same time I don't see this as a winner, either.

I really like it, and I hope that juries all over Europe will know how to appreciate such a good song. Unfortunately, it's not a winner. :|

People assume it is soley a song contest and don't realise singing ability is just as important.

It is one reason why some countries have had crap entries recently.

Well, my impression is that people don't really take into account the name of the contest and a lot of times bland dull songs score better because of amazing performers.

The name of the contest is Eurovision Song Contest.

Exactly what I said, LOL! IMO, better songs should score better, not depending on the vocals. ;) That isn't really the case, however.

Sorry, I misunderstood you post.

If someone sings an amazing song out of tune or in a poor way should it still do well.

Singing and songs go hand in hand.

And I don't think good singers have done well with bland songs, look at Chiara last year.

Last time the Eurovision Song Contest was held in Norway, Ireland was the winner. Let's hope that the history will repreat itself. :p

The song is simple and pure. I think that's exactly what they were aiming for. It comes as a refreshment after all those performances trying to sweep us off our feet by pulling out ''impossible'' on stage (getting out of the giant book, changing 5 times on stage, walking on water or being blown away by a storm etc.)
If it reaches a good placing in May it will prove to us all that not everything is lost when it comes to quality and good taste! Good luck, Niamh!
