Well no one votes for us when we send uptempo.

So why should we bother.

Unfortunately, it seems true. Songs like 2005, 2008 & 2009 were phenomenal! At least this time the ballad's of high quality. For instance, 2006 was utter boredom but this one's better. :D

It's one of the rare ballads that I like this year.
I find this song a bit 'serious' and I like that! I like this simple neutral performance, I like lyrics and her english (it sounds normal and not ridiculous and bad like when east europeans send some crap in english).
I like singer as well, she seems very comfortable and relaxed on stage, clearly enjoying her singing.
Instrumental part is also nice (flaut), brings a bit of irish spirit, IMO.
Everything in this song is good for me.
Good luck Ireland!

I can't say I'm thrilled about this song... but she's the best choice for sure.

I'd even dare to say our best song in 10 years. Hopefully she does well in Oslo. To the finals (yes)... a winner (no)

Just as expected - 0 points :) Okay, 1 point, because it fits the requirements of a good ballad and she sings well, but still the genre's and the song's utter boredom doesn't allow me to give more than 1 :)

Well they were on the radio discussing how the song doesn't need any effects, I worry it will be like Chiara last year, a snoozefest.

I would agree that no effects are needed per sei.

But at the same time I agree that they could do a little bit more with the overall performance. Examples are serbia 2002 or 2007. Just by having the backup singers do more than just stand behind the mic and actually 'play' instruments or at least move around on stage may make this performance more memorable.

At the same time, Patricia Kaas didn't do anything really either and she ended up in 8th place. So I'm not quite sure what's best either.

I don't think that she can repeat Chiara's destiny... the song is different.
imo, effects can ruin the song, it's not needed. Imo, backing vocalists should move. Not necessary dance but they shouldn't stay @ one place. If they wanna stand still then the camera work should be discussed really thoroughly. And no simple costumes, of course.

It will be hard for Ireland this year. Malta, Ireland, Portugal, Georgia - all are ballads sung by women. And I am afraid that for me none of the ballads stand out from the rest.
Chiara failed last year - with a dreadful ballad (I was actually very surprised she made it to the final) - but a good voice.
Jade had a slightly better ballad - but was amazing on stage! For me the best of the night alongside Patricia.
Patricia came 8th last year, very strong presentation, great voice - but I guess too french and with no real refrain (impossible to remember the melody after hearing it only once of twice).

So what could Malta, Ireland, Portugal and Georgia do?? Well, most important: the singer has to be fantastic on the night!!!! ...making me put my money on Ireland for the best result of these.

The song is good, but it seems like the singer has to make a lot of effort to reach the notes, it makes me feel uneasy. Hopefully she will sing better in may.
