The finalists were notified today, and according to Keith Mills (an ESC fan who has contacts in RTÉ), "We have a former winning singer, a former winning composer and a former Eurovision interval act member in the 5."
The former winning singer is almost certainly Niamh Kavanagh
The former winning writer could be Brendan Graham, Ralph Siegel or Johnny Logan (according to the rumours)
The former interval act member could be Ronan Keating or Mikey Graham (Boyzone were the interval in 1997)

The songs will be revealed next week, it can't be done today because there is one foreign performer or composer that isn't in Ireland at the moment and RTE is waiting for them to arrive in order to do a press conference.

01. "Does Heaven Need Much More" by Leanne Moore (You're A Star winner)
02. "Fashion Queen" by Monika (a singer from Bosnia & Herzegovina who finished fourth in German Pop Idol a few years ago)
03. "River Of Silence" by Lee Bradshaw (was in last year's Irish NF with "So What")
04. "Baby Nothing Is Wrong" by Mikey Graham (Boyzone member)
05. "It's For You" - Niamh Kavanagh (ESC 1993 winner, song written by last year's Irish writers combined with the writers of a few Melodifestivalen songs, such as Alvorna and I Lagornas Sken)
Oh and in the end it was today!

It doesn't sound particularly impressive apart from Niamh and Monika....
It's strange when I heard all the possibilities this NF sounded so good but now when I look at it I have the feeling they choose bad....again.
I get the impression that the only uptempo song will be Fashion Queen :|

In order of how optimistic I am for the song+Performance:
1. Niamh Kavanagh - It's for you
2. Monika - Fashion Queen
3. Mikey Graham - Baby Nothing is wrong
4. Leanne Moore - Does Heaven Need Much More
100. Lee Boreshaw - River of silence
I hope Boreshaw doesn't come anywhere near winning. His song last year really was a case of so what.....

Lee Bradshaw's song is by Ralph Siegel (many many past entries, most recently Montenegro 2009, Switzerland 2006, Germany 2003)
Leanne Moore's is by John Waters (Ireland 2007)
Monika's is by the Paelinck brothers from Belgium who wrote Belgium 2004 and Malta 2009
