Within Temptation, please! A metal act with real ESC winning potential if they sent something that sounded like their average single.

it's about time we had raves come on the only not sad song in the past five years was jeangu's the sequel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope Loreen wins so we can say that it works to send former winners and then we send Duncan to see him flop so hard you will regain your faith in humanity.

After that we rave to cleanse our souls.

I'm not opposed to a "national contest" but there still needs to be a internal selection of the songs the Dutch people can vote for, so we don't end up with a bunch of Sieneke's, but we'd get a couple of quality acts (like S10 etc), and we also get to see (and hear!) them perform before they get selected.

I don't care much if it's uptempo, ballad, country-ish, rock etc. as long as a quality act gets selected. And although I would enjoy seeing Duncan flop hard, I prefer him to stay away as far as possible from the Dutch selection procedure. He can move to the US, he already adopts some weird accent (always reminds me of Regilio Tuur who went to NYC for 3 weeks and came back forgetting how to speak Dutch).

I don't care about an internal selection tbh but it's clear that at least the way the song is selected has to chance, more importantly the people involved in the selection procedure have to chance.
I'd like Nationaal Songfestival to come back but only if it's done right, and I feel that loads of Dutch artists aren't ready to participate in a national selection if they're at risk at, well, failing.

In ANY case please let us send something fun next year. Since Birds and Calm After The Storm, I only really, really liked Arcade and De Diepte, and Walk Along was a bop but just horribly executed, all the others were big meh and I just supported them because I'm Dutch.

Risky choice, because not everyone is digesting Metal. But I will go even riskier and send Blackbriar. The Netherlands NQ'd this year, they have nothing to lose: go risky... All or nothing.

I think Sharon's vocals could potentially win over a lot more than the typical metal act. But yeah, it's always risky to send something that wasn't crafted in a pop laboratory!

No ballads, please. It was good before, but at this moment i want them to send something exciting.

Or maybe they can send something a bit shocking. This S10 song is quite shocking to me for its beat change.

We all know it's time for Davina Michelle to represent our country! Hopefully she wants to give it a try next year.

Pop banger like this unreleased song 'dating the devil' would slay so hard.

Jacqueline Govaert and Jaap Reesema Join Eurovision Selection Committee

Jacqueline and Jaap will join existing committee members Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen, Carolien Borgers, Hila Noorzai, Cornald Maas and Sander Lantinga and will choose the Dutch entry for Eurovision 2024. Both were chosen for their experience in the Dutch and international music industry. Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen, chairperson of the committee and Head of Delegation for the Netherlands, explained:

“Through our conversations, I know that Jacqueline and Jaap follow the Eurovision Song Contest and that they are very motivated to find that strong song that can conquer all of Europe and the rest of the world. Lots of unknown and established artists have already applied. Now that the selection committee is complete, I’m looking even more forward to the final choice that we will make together.”

Jacqueline Govaert first found fame as the lead singer of Krezip, who are best known for their 2000 hit single “I Would Stay”. After Krezip broke up in 2009, Jacqueline began her solo career and has released three solo albums. Krezip reformed in 2019 and have been active ever since.

Jacqueline spoke about her appointment:

“Listening to a good well sung song for the first time is something magical. I’m looking forward to listening to the entries with the other committee members and finding the perfect song among them!”

Jaap Reesema started his career after winning the third series of X Factor in 2010. Taking the stage name Jake Reese, he collaborated with Dutch DJ Hardwell on several singles in English. In 2018, he scored a number one hit in Belgium with “Ellie”, a collaboration with Belgian DJ Regi. In 2020, he released his first single under his real name and in his native language, “Kom wat dichterbij”, another collaboration with Regi. This song won Radio 2 Zomerhit in Belgium later that year. In 2022, he attempted to represent the Netherlands at Eurovision with Armin van Buuren but was not selected.

Jaap also spoke about being on the committee:

The chance to work on the creation of big, international success for a Dutch product is great. Look at ‘Arcade’ by Duncan Laurence. It now has more than 1 billion Spotify streams, unprecedented! That is what the Eurovision Song Contest can do for a song and an artist. I am convinced that we have enough talented and creative people in the Netherlands to get another win and I’m going to commit myself 100% to getting that done!

Dutch artists, composers and record labels are invited to submit a song for the internal selection by September 30. AVROTROS aim to make the final choice by mid-December 2023.

The selection committee for the Netherlands has received more than 600 songs.

"The entries are diverse in terms of both music genre and language. The majority of the songs are in English, almost a hundred have Dutch lyrics and a small number contain French, Arabic, Turkish, Spanish and Italian. The selection committee now starts the selection process and ultimately chooses the song and artist that will represent the Netherlands at the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö."

The chairman of the selection committee expressed confidence that the committee will find the right song and the right artist for ESC 2024.
