Re: YAPONESIA: NSC 126
NSC 126
Project Zenit - Kozimnin Karasy (Pupil of my Eye)
I touched briefly on the story behind this entry in my post for NSC 112. Basically, Project Zenit was all set to be my entry for Paperland's last hosting, but fate decided they would wait a year and come to Paper & INK for NSC 126 instead! The link even still fits; after a trip that included Kazakhstan in 2014, my 2015 trip included Bulgaria.
Project Zenit are a team formed in 2012 based primarily in Astana, Kazakhstan. Timur Turisbekov and Ivan Shopov are two long time friends divided by many countries who decided to unite into a Kazakh-Bulgarian collaboration to explore different dimensions of the music they like. Zenit's 'Көзімнің қарасы' uses the lyrics of one of Kazakhstan's most famous folk songs over a dark electronic pulse, featuring local sounds that can be heard in the Kazakh wild.
