But the only thing the song from Israel has (out of your four arguments) is "the native language". Other than that it sounds just like a song that easily could have been in the Melodifestivalen - an imported Swedish song, a schlager ballad.

You obviously must have heard a complete different entry than I did then because it has NOTHING of the sound of MF, let alone "schlager" ballad... did you mix it up with the Georgian or Russian cheese-fests?

Oh, and again I'm for diversity, I don't say all entries must be in native languages and have ethnic motives, all I'm saying is that since juries were brought back there's an obvious decline in all that.

Things are bad when I fully agree with A-Lister. Easily the worst semi-final in history.

Well, glad that we're in an agreement afterall, not so glad that it's over a sad thing though :(

Overreaction much, it's hardly the worst qualifiers in the history of the contest! 2011 was worse in terms of songs IMO, I had like only 5 songs I liked.

2011 was bad aswell, another year with the juries magical inputs...

but this semi takes the price really, the worse semi qualifiers ever!

Oh believe me I do NOT mix up songs. But I easily hear Swedish MF in this song. Could have been a song for Sarah Dawn Finer. :) And yes i do get your point, but I dont agree... not this year. I just think it was a very crappy semi. With a lot of dull songs. And therefor everything could happen. We have a lot of songs that DID qualify and these songs do actually live up to your "standards". But you (and others) seem to forget that.

Oh I didn't forget about them, but you asked me of my personal opinion though...

Oh, Sarah Dawn Finer WISHES she sang a ballad like this!

Well ofcourse you forgot them since your only focus is on how destroyed ESC is - ESC is dead - the purpose of this thread and everything you've written. A bit of a drama queen maybe?

I'm off to bed now... Good night. :)

Ireland can!

Why doesn't Ireland sing in Irish? Even back then when there was a language rule they were always singing in English.

Funny for a country that tried so hard to become independent and is pretty nationalistic they sing in a language from the country they wanted to get away from.

No I didn't, then you didn't get my point. But you DID ask for my own personal taste though... which is not necessary the same as the message.

But yeah, to answer your question once again I also would have rather seen for instance :bg: through ...

and then we have semi 1 aswell...

I know right? That's what I meant...

And back then when juries had all say, the few countries that were allowed to sing in English (UK, Ireland and Malta) also had an advantage thanks to the pro-English biasism juries ALWAYS seemed to have in this contest... well maybe Malta were overlooked a bit but not the two others.. I mean Ireland had plenty of unfair wins imo.

Anyway, I'm not buying the official CD this year ! I've done it for the past 3 years, but I won't in 2013 !

I've done it since 2004... I'll see about this year... the year is no worse than 2010-2011, but as a protest to how it's been handled I might not buy it...

No, they can't. Do you know how many people in Ireland know Irish?

Your point is?

How many in Russia speaks Udmurt? xshrug

And my bet is that the knowledge of Irish/Gaelic in Ireland is still a bit better than the knowledge of ENGLISH in some countries that send English nevertheless.

@A-lister, you are obsessed, and you have a negative bias against the English language for some reason :? English is a global language and it's only natural that singers choose this language more often than others.

I have a negative biasism against English? How come I write it here then? How come it's my second language? How come the majority of the music in my iPod is in fact in English?

Oh, so the random Russian or Frenchem knows English? Oh yeah

Eurovision is a unique concept, we have English elsewhere why do English need to take over a contest which is suppose to be a celebration of ALL Europe?

I like national diversity, I don't want to kill it...

Being pro- native languages in ESC which is a concept where countries should send entries representing their countries, is hardly the same as being anti-English.

And again for the millionth time... the language issue is not the ONLY or one isolated problem here, it's one of MANY issues!
