I agree. Cute song. Very well produced. Very Little Mix wannabe but nowhere close to it (which is often the main issue with BBC : sending things that remotely sound like proper worldwide Britpop but in a not as good version...)
The rhythm change is interesting but a bit confusing as well regarding the Eurovision format.
I like it but do I want to listen to it on repeat...

Alright, so on the plus side, the UK is at least trying different things with their recent entries, and not stuck in one genre. However, besides the so-far one-time fluke "Space Man" they still can't seem to do anything right. This unappealiing mess somehow has all of the typical problems of recent UK entries.

First off, as everyone else seems to agree, it's just too complex and discontinous. It's straight out of a musical, in a scene where things don't turn out like expected, and i don't get who even thought that was a good idea for the ESC. It doesn't strike me as well written or even musically interesting, besides the novelty of the constant changes, the parts are individually weak and ordinary.

I don't get the supposed similarities to "Bohemian Rhapsody", it's much feistier and less serious, and about the only similarity is there's vocal harmonies and a lot of dramatic and sudden changes. If anything, it's similar to "Who the Hell is Edgar" and O'g3ne, but whatever.

Another question is if they're gonna be able to sing this well live, especially considering how often the UK fails at this, for whatever reason. A sub-par vocal performance is gonna be absolutely crushing this song, and another bottom 2 placement is far from unlikely.

So overall, i'm not really supporting this entry, and i'm betting on it not improving their average ranking of the last two decades.

The only way this could win is if they put a man in an apesdress together with them on stage. Like with Francesco Gabbani.

Seriously though I think the song is kind of refreshing but a little bit strange in its construction.

I am the only person on Earth who loves this absolute banger
No your actually not, I think it displayed 1920s british jazz swing in a quite charming way. A bit of british culture just as the greeks and turks can play their great traditional music and the portuguese ,the british also have local styles. But for the americans and british, mainstream pop is a local style it should be said. And a bit for the swedes via ABBA.

That’s all good and well but the live stage show was an absolute car crash and the scatting was unbearable

I don't understand so much criticism to this song??????????? Will it win? Definitely not, but it's not far from what OG3NE offered back in 2017 with even a better taste. It's an :8: for me.

Catchy at first listen!

It's a song with loads of elements and tempo changes. Which is good in the sense that it gives you something to explore after you've identified the very simple chorus. The risk is that all these changes can make the song harder to connect with. Let's see how it will sound live.

A 7 from me.

There is a world of difference in the level of swearing between saying "Hell" and saying the word that Kant's name sounds like.

It’s already been established that the BBC DID NOT complain about Kant.

I fear that damage has been done my friend.

The reason Immanuel Kant never visited the UK was because of his name. But perhaps that word didnt exist then?

The word did exist, but didn't become vulgar until shortly after his death.

As for the British song - we have found our 26th place. Hooray.

I also don't get the Electro Velvet hate. They were quite adorable, and the song wasn't bad.
