Apparently Molly had a lot of control actually over her staging, that's why it came across as by hippy/bohemian like with all that henna shit.
Hm OK, but my point is if that was the 'vision' she had for the song then it should have been there from day one. Not a last minute 'surprise' of "how are we going to stage this?" "oh, I like like this hippy stuff I've found" "fine we'll go with that". And it doesn't fit the song either. 'Power to the people/Children of the Universe' could have had a great theme, such as ordinary people doing amazing things, global power, space, whatever. Not people lying around dressed somewhere between Ancient Rome, Vikings, and India.
And I think the BBC/Entries are very poor with the camera work. Molly looked lost on stage and my worry is that for EV that it'll be even harder for the cameras to get close to them because of all the lighting bars around Austria's stage.
The last time we did well with an unknown entry, Jade, was because it was ALW's song, ALW's vision, ALW staging, ALW's promotion...I think Guy is a good producer but I don't think he is creative and I fear the BBC is not as 'cutting edge' as they think they are when it comes to the performances. We need an entrant who has a vision for their song, that Guy and the BBC can adapt and neaten, rather than them trying to lead the process.
