Re: UKRAINE 2018

Well if you missed the televoting in the semi it's completely dominated by teenage girls on hormones who voted 'en masse' for local "teen idol" Mélovin (because he's apparently "sooo cuute like O M G let's vote for him let's not care about what's best")

Seriously???So it's the first time i will tell this but i hope juries save Tayanna and us!!!

Well one of the jurors is a mid age "closeted" gay man who is supporting untalented twinks like Mountain Breeze and clearly said he don't want another female for Ukraine... the other two are less predictable xshrug

We like drama

Don't worry, your fav will win ;) Drama or no drama...

But seriously though, if Andriy/ Verka already told his rank, he should be finally kicked out of the jury... the fact he was even allowed when one group he produces is in is a mystery to me... it's like they won't even hide the cronyism/corruption xshrug

Anyways I got nothing against him doing Verka which is a fun character, but he is simply not a good jury xshrug

Re: UKRAINE 2018

Why is it such an issue he said what his top 3 is? all the split voting for the semis was revealed so it's not like it would be too hard to figure out. Yeah if it was all hidden then i'd understand why people are stressing, but it doesn't seem like such a big deal to me? Every 'expert' juror has their own agenda and their own thoughts in what is the best choice.

We can even try and predict how the jury vote will look, because literally every detail was revealed already. Assuming they vote in the exact same alignment as they did in the semis then the jury votes should look like this:

Re: UKRAINE 2018

So I just listened to the songs a few times, and I gotta say Ukraine's NF is probably the best in overall quality so far.
I don't think we have a Eurovision winner here, but Ukraine will not only surely be in the final in Lisbon, but with the right staging they'll also be a contender at least for the top 10, whatever they choose.
I think my favourite is Tayanna with "Lelya" though, it's so infectious. I really love it. And the coreography is pretty good too.
By the way, can you believe that some people are saying that them putting black backing vocalists behind the white main singer is trying to send a message that white people are better than black people? So ridiculous.

Of course it's an issue if he reveals how he will vote in the final before the final even takes place xshrug

We can of course "assume" how they will vote based on how they voted in the semis, but that's just assumptions and when other entries are put next to each other they could very well vote differently, also performances might go better/worse for acts in the final which could effect the jury vote aswell xshrug

For example in Lithuanian NF this year they always announce jury points 3 days before the Heat! :?

Tayanna should win easily this year if Ukraine is aiming for the best overall package, but like expressed already plenty of times I'm afraid that won't be the case. I do agree that this selection is easily one of the strongest ones this year, far above the dreadful Vidbir 2017.

So now having black backing singers is "racism"? That's just ridiculous xshrug , If anything Tayanna's team are showing that people of different colors should be part of a show in a country that unfortunately has a very long way to go to accept other ethnic minorities other than white/European xshrug

Yes, that is why I said "assuming they vote in the exact same alignment as they did in the semis". Obviously one of them could be awful live, but I think in the grand scheme of things, the voting wont look too differently... It's not as big a 'problem' as you're making out though, we already know how he voted in the semis, and this top 3 of his follows his semi voting exactly, so it's not shocking at all. We don't know how the other 2 jurors will fully vote, so it's not like it is dead set and done.

edit: Just to make it clear, I'm not saying this as I want Melovin to win. I like his song, but Tayannas song, performance and package as a whole is superior.

Might be the case, but I don't think that's how it works in this one...

Now I'm not fully aware of the rules, but he might have even broken the rules of this national selection xshrug

I guess you're right, but still they voted in semis where other songs were competing against eachother than in the final. Let's pretend for instance that someone thought ALL qualifiers from semi 2 had higher quality than all qualifiers from semi 1, then even the highest pointer from semi 1 will receive the lowest point from that juror in the final... it is very well possible right? And yeah then of course an entry can grow on someone while another can become less interesting, it's also possible and yeah someone could screw up in live performance in the final while another could completely surprise... but yeah I get your point but still.

Glad we agree on that part :)

Right? I totally don't understand what kind of mindset someone has to jump into that conclusion when looking at that performance? Surely the people that think this kind of thing are the ones that are actually revealing that they, themselves, have racist tendencies?

This! If someone sees an issue with this, then they obviously read something into this (maybe unconsciously but still) that looks more like some sort of "Freudian slip" to me...

Re: UKRAINE 2018

So, Zlata wanted to have one of the best jazz singers as her backing vocalist (don't remember his name but he was black) and she didn't spare any light nor laser on these cause she had racistic performance  And she made them wear black clothes too! So they'd be even less visible!
While Mariya on the following year just removed them from the scene and put them on some square at the back. Thanks Denmark, for creating the racism spot where all black backing vocalists go! xheya
