Re: UKRAINE 2018

AlekS, do you know what's going on with The Hardkiss. I saw on their instagram, they're looking for a guitarist? People were speculating that Val is leaving/left?
No idea. Maybe it's Roman. Maybe it's just for the studio work. Maybe someone hasn't made their international passport for Lisbon in time xwhistle

New single from KAZKA.

Surprisingly good. It's 3 minutes long too, so I'm guessing they're gonna try ESC with it. However, without a chorus, I can't see it going anywhere. Maybe they can rework it a bit.

Good luck to them in NF but I think we probably don't see this entry going to Final. I feel that this sounds a bit overproduced and even cheap at some moments. Of course it's not nearly as good as "Svyata" but at least they try to make stuff and I believe we'll hear good tracks from them in the future if they don't make so big (where it's unnecessary) emphasis on electro elements.

With such live vocals even the best song in the world won't help them. This one is meh, imo. Hope it's just a X-mas single.

My bets on X Factor "quota": MELOVIN, Dasha Stupak, Yurcash. If you talk about their producer... it's rather Kazka or Mountain Breeze but not both. It's only 2 semis this time, you know.

I hear that Michelle Andrade finally enter to Vdir - Ukrainian National Preselection 2018? Its true that?
If NK (Nastya Kamenskih) agrees Michelle Andrade will sit out.

Did she learn how to sing yet? Any good material for a change? So far I'm not even remotely impressed by her, juvenile music with very weak vocals on top.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

Alekseev could give Tayanna a good run for her money, but in the end of the day if Ukraine wants to secure a good spot in ESC, with the juries onboard and all, they need someone who is a stable live singer, and Alekseev is kind of shaky live (heck even in studio version he's shaky). I do like a couple of his songs though (one being a cover however), but like was pointed out before in here, almost directly into his career he is almost solely targeted on the Russian market so not sure if this is someone who should get the honor representing Ukraine?

However I must say if Tayanna will enter, Alekseev, potentially Illaria again (with a better song), Nastya Kamenskih? and Kazka, this might shape up to be a pretty decent selection.

Yes she improved her vocals, even she won an M1 Music Awards few days ago, see her perfomance at awards:

+ She relased a new Xmsa song 3 days ago

Like I said, weak vocals and bad songs... not a good combo imo

I like it, Svyata was better but a hard song to follow up, certainly they keep me interested in them...

Re: UKRAINE 2018

But you shouldn't understime her, she is the typical young singer that ukrainians could vote for at NF just like Melovin this year.

With the type of thin weak vocals she has and bad songs I'm not sure who would vote for her really? Mozgi bought her an award at M1 Awards, but not sure their corruption would work in the selection for ESC, especially when there will be much stronger acts like Tayanna and Alekseev who are also backed by "powerful teams".

I don't think her vocals are THAT weak. Wasn't she on some talent show a few years back and sounded fairly good? I think the problem is that Potap is making her sing absolute awful trash. Aside from songs being bad, the whole style is not hers and she's clearly uncomfortable with it all. Potap might be good at what he does (at least for Potap i Nastya and Vremya i Steklo), but he's a one trick pony. He tries to shoehorn everyone of his talents into that same mold. He needs to get other composers for Nastya and Michelle if they are to have success.

I don't know, I don't care for talent shows, based on the performance from M1 Awards she is quite weak vocally. I actually don't agree on that Potap being a bad producer, he's actually more diverse than one might think... I mean just compare the tracks below... are they similar? But I agree that Michelle has weak songs.

^btw is there any clip of Yulia Dumanska singing live? Would she be interested in ESC? She's got some decent songs and she's strikingly looking.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

That one is a bit different. Though, really, most of it is because it's in Ukrainian. If it were in Russian, the difference would feel smaller. But ok, he has a couple songs that are different. The rest of what he does is still pretty much the same.

Speaking of Potap and different, this is my favorite Potap i Nastya song by far. Gorgeous video too. Wish they'd do more in this style.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

Illaria published the new song (it's gonna be the opening song of the new TV series):

Definitely not her entry because of copyright but I know that she's thinking about taking part.
Hope that her entry will be in a similar style.

From the live auditions (for those who want to meet the preselection team in person and perform live instead of sending their songs or dealing via agents):

bBOTFS2.jpg

Andre France (ex-producer of Maria Yaremchuk. Yep, this is his real last name), Natalia Franchuk (the lady boss of the NF) and our NF music producer Ruslan Kvinta.

Re: UKRAINE 2018

Any speculations about Khrystyna Soloviy taking part in Vidbir? I still think 2017 would've been an ideal moment to send her with a ballad in Ukrainian. But anyway, she released her new song today. I'm absolutely in love with it. It sounds like velvet. Such a beautiful melody and rich production. Would probably need a more pronounced chorus for ESC though.
