Congratulations to Zlata!!. She deserved the 2nd place instead of :az: which was pure show to cover an average song (no offense to anyone, but i believe it shouldnt have scored so high). She was great tonight :D

Congratulations. I'm glad you got the 3rd place and I also think this is better than Azerbaijan's song. Also glad we gave you 10 points. Totally deserved :)

Congrats, Ukraine. 3rd Place is better than I expected after the initial troubles. Zlata was just terrific, with a better song she might have won.

No but really, Russia tend to give Ukraine lower points than Ukraine gives Russia... as a matter of fact Russia in general give lower points back to their "loyal friends" (= Russian diaspora in ex-USSR countries)... so the case is a bit similar to the non-mutual voting between other countries which have large diaspora immigrant groups in their countries, but don't get any love back.

But Zlata was born in Russian city of Murmansk from Serbian father and Russian mother......
I still believe that this year all goes in Danish favor, all soviet countries in final and it was expected that there will be a scattering of votes between them (cause they goes with 3 really strong entries), plus there was no ex-yu countries (at the end former yugoslav countries gives to Denmark more points than whole Scandinavian block)......

In semi final Montenegro gave 12 to Zlata, in final 0 (where is logic), Serbia give 12 to Emmelie even its obvious that massive votes for Denmark are just unexpected, Azerbaijan give 0 to Russia etc etc etc. That all looks so strange to me.

Btw at the end of performance Zlata said "Hvala mnogo" on serbian xheart

Hmm I thought her mother was Ukrainian?

Anyways that's not really relevant, the politics are directed not against her but against Ukraine as a country.

Can't believe that Russia give it only 1 point?

There are some reports of the Russian public being confused because many voted for Zlata and seem surprised/upset that she only got 1 point from Russia. Same with Belarus, actually. Probably the jury was given some 'suggestions' for voting.

Also strange that Slovenia and Montenegro gave Ukraine 12 each in the Semi but nothing in the Final. I don't even understand how that would work. But it is what it is.

Same situation in Serbia with votes for Greece!

A bit of random 2013 voting analysis.

Ukraine received 5 sets of 12 points in the final this year, from :am: :az: :by: :hr: :md:, the most since 2007 when they also received 5. The only time they got more 12 pointers was 8 in 2004, the year they won.

Ukraine got votes from 28 out of possible 38 countries, that's a 74% success rate, or fifth best for the country. The first four were: 98% in 2007 (1 country didn't give votes), 97% (1 country didn't vote), 83% in 2008 (5 countries didn't give votes), 80% in 2006 (7 countries didn't vote).

This is Ukraine's first 3rd finish, and fourth best overall. It won in 2004 and was the runner up in 2007 and 2008. It's Ukraine's seventh Top Ten finisher out of the eleven years they participated.

This is the first time in the two-semi system that Ukraine received points from every country voting in its semi, including 12 points from Belarus, Cyprus, Italy, Lithuania, Montenegro, and Slovenia.

00 pts :al: One of the 10 countries not to give any points. In fact, they only gave Ukraine 3 points in the last five years, and that was in 2011. Albania was the only country to not give Ukraine any points in 2007.
12 pts :am: Their second consecutive 12 points to Ukraine. Of course Armenia didn't participate last year. They've now given points to Ukraine all seven years in which they participated.
01 pts :at: First time they voted for Ukraine since 2007, when they gave Verak 4 points. They also gave 4 to Ruslana in 2004.
12 pts :az: Sixth consecutive time they voted for Ukraine and second 12 pointer after one in 2011. The only time Azerbaijan gave Ukraine less than 10 points was last year.
12 pts :by: While Belarus voted for Ukraine the last eight years and nine out of the total possible ten times (didn't vote for Greenjolly in 2005), this was the first time Ukraine got 12 points from Belarus.
08 pts :be: This was the highest number of points that Belgium gave to Ukraine in the final. In fact it was more than Belgium gave Ukraine in all previous years (7 total, 1 in 2008, 1 in 2007 and 5 in 2004).
10 pts :bg: This was the highest number of points to Ukraine from Bulgaria as well. Though, Bulgaria has been more friendly than Belgium in the past, having given Ukraine 25 points over the period of 7 years.
12 pts :hr: Another country's best points ever to Ukraine, this time a first 12 pointer from Croatia. Croatia seems to have been a more reliable voter in the mid 00s, but only voted for Ukraine once, 5 points in 2011, out of the previous four years.
10 pts :cy: And another one. Prior to this year, Cyprus' highest points to Ukraine was 8 to Ruslana in 2004.
3 pts :dk: Never one of Ukraine's biggest fans, this was Denmark's first points to Ukraine since 2008, when it gave its highest ever points to Ukraine, 7 to Ani Lorak.
10 pts :ee: This was the most love Estonia showed Ukraine since Ruslana who got 12 from them. But Estonia hasn't been especially friendly toward Ukraine in other years, having given it just one point in the previous four years - last year.
00 pts :fi: Although Finland seemed somewhat fond of Ukraine in mid 00s - 19 points between 04 and 08 - it hasn't voted for Ukraine since giving Ani 3 points.
00 pts :fr: One of the least affectionate countries in ESC as far as Ukraine is concerned. Ukraine got a total of 8 points from them, the highest being a 4 to Verka, plus 2 each in 2004 and 2010.
08 pts :ge: Georgia is more friendly, having given points in all 7 years it participated. But curiously enough, it has yet to give a 12 pointer to Ukraine.
00 pts :de: And we're back to a country that has shown very little love for Ukraine. Although they gave more points than France, they only voted for Ukraine twice - 6 in 04 and 5 in 07.
08 pts :gr: Greece gave Ukraine 7 points in 2010, 2007 and 2004, but this was a first more than 7.
07 pts :hu: After having ignored Ukraine the two previous years, Hungary gives its second highest points to them.
03 pts :is: A common thread here is that Ukraine has fallen out of favor with the West since the mid 00s and Iceland is no exception, giving Ukraine its first points since 2008.
08 pts :ie: Ireland gave Ukraine just two points in the semi, but ended up giving one of the top Western voters in the final. Unlike most Western too, it did give Ukraine points last year as well.
10 pts :il: This marks the third 10 points given by Israel to Ukraine (the other two were in 2008 and 2007). It's not the best show of love from this country either, having given Ruslana 12 points in 2004. However, Israel has been less keen on Ukrainian entries recently, only giving 2 each in 2009 and 2010 the last four years.
05 pts :it: Since its return, Italy has not been forgetting Ukraine having averaged 5 points each year.
07 pts :lv: Although generally the most friendly of the three, Latvia gave the lowest points to Ukraine of the Balkan countries. Perhaps it was the fact that they didn't get to see the performance in the Semi first?
10 pts :lt: The strongest support by Lithuania for a Ukrainian entry since Ruslana in 2004 when they gave maximum points.
00 pts :mk: Strange no-vote from Macedonia. After giving points to Ukraine in the previous six out of nine years, Macedonia completely ignored one of Ukraine's higher placing entries.
10 pts :mt: Equals Malta's highest ever previous points to Ukraine - 10 in 2008. In the last eight years, Malta only failed to award points to Ukraine in 2010.
12 pts :md: Breaking off from its usual tradition, Moldova gives its 12 points to Ukraine instead of Romania. This also marks the highest points ever given by Belarus, having previously given 8 points to Ukraine in 2012, 2011, 2010, 2006 and 2005.
00 pts :me: Since its debut in 2007, Montenegro has been the least friendly ex-Yugo country. Strangely enough, this year they gave Ukraine 12 points in the Semi, but somehow it didn't translate to a single point in the final, despite the fact that there wasn't a single ex-Yugo country there.
05 pts :nl: One of the friendlier Western countries, but certainly not one to over-shower Ukraine with points. They gave 7 points in 2004 and again in 2010, but other than that, only 1 point 2008 and 2007 prior to this year.
01 pts  Second year in a row that Norway gives Ukraine 1 point in the final. Its overall relationship to Ukraine is no different form most in that region, 7 points in 2004, 5 points in 2009 and 2 points in 2007.
04 pts :ro: Despite a shared border and perhaps somewhat similar music scene (no?), Romania has not been one of Ukraine's strongest supporters. The highest ever points they gave to Ukraine was 6 points in 2004.
01 pts :ru: The shock of the voting for me and probably for many others. The lowest show of support from Russia ever, they even gave 2 points to Greenjolly in 2005 (Loboda also got only 2 points in 2009). Has to be the work of "funny counting" or the jury.
00 pts :sm: With four years of participation, San Marino remains the only country that hasn't given Ukraine a single points (of those countries who participated while Ukraine did, obviously).
10 pts :rs: Highest points from Serbia to Ukraine. However, they did give Ukraine 10 points as part of Serbia and Montenegro in 2004.
00 pts :sl: Along with Montenegro, Slovenia too gave 12 points to Ukraine in the Semi only to not give anything in the final.
10 pts :es: The highest points from a Western country this year and Spain's highest poins to Ukraine ever, despite the fact that Spain usually gives Ukraine something (though not in 2011, 2010 or 2003).
00 pts :se: After giving Ruslana 10 points in 2004, Sweden has only voted for Ukraine three other times, with a total of 6 points (2 in 2011, 3 in 2007 and 1 in 2006).
00 pts :ch: The winner of "Least fond of Ukraine" award (well technically it's San Marino, but they only had four tries0. They only gave points to Ukraine once - 2 points to Verka in 2007. They're also the only country to not give anything to Ruslana in 2004.
05 pts :uk: Although they never gave Ukraine really high votes (highest - 8 points in 2007), UK has been somewhat receptive to Ukrainian entries, having voted for them 6 out of 11 times.
