I knew it was transphobic with the "whatever", it was just meant as a tease. You know, there's a "new" word in Swedish "hen" which is the genus neutral combination of the words "honom" (he) and "henne" (she). Some hate it, some find it very useful. If there were such word in English, this situation would perfect for it (or not as I'm maybe in deep water here :geek:).

But Caitlyn Jenner is officially a woman so you shouldn't use gender-neutral pronoun. Gender-neutral pronouns are meant to be used when somebody doesn't not wish to be referred as a woman/man - not when somebody wants to transition to another gender. So no, situation is not perfect for it (at least not now, when Caitlyn is officially a woman).

Ok, that's fine, everybody makes mistakes. :) I just wanted to clarify that it is not polite to use this pronoun to describe her.

Do you know when we may expect an announcement regarding the hosts?

I guess no sooner than December/January :(

No idea, but I searched for when Petra was last announced as hostess in 2013 => January 28. So sometime in the beginning of next year I guess.

Aftonbladet is apparently reporting that Måns is close to a deal to host next year's contest

It also says it's still not clear if he'll be the only host.

I think the hosts will be those who are not commenting on this. ;)

Of course, Måns alone as host is obvious and would be sure success! Here is the article:
Måns krav för att leda Eurovision

According to the article Måns wants to be the main host (not a sidekick or greenroom host) and have a grand act (in the final I assume) to show the world his artistry. Not only wants, he demands it it says. This is a Tobbe Ek article so there's probably a true story (or a credible rumour) somewhere in this. I'm not overly excited by having the host(s) doing show acts though. I rather have spectacular external interval acts adding unique values to the show.

I'm not fond of this. Conchita was "just" a greenroom host this year but I felt like we've seen her too much with interviews, breaks, 2 opening performances and an interval act. Eurovision is not a promotion event for past winners. If that news is true and if they give what Mans wants, then overdose is guaranteed. Doesn't he want to perform all ESC entries by himself as well?

I've read somewhere that Mans has already denied the rumours...

I think he is a kind of special case. He was good hosting Melodifestivalen, but he made huge success leading Allsång på Skansen. He seemed made for this kind of work. Personally I don't fancy his music much, but I think he's a really great presenter. I think Måns seeing himself as primarily a singer though, so there you have it.

I wasn't questioning his ability to present a show like Eurovision, just that having a at least a co-presenter would be more "bearable". But that's only my opinion.

I love Måns .. but I don't want him to be a host. I just don't. He is charming as hell and is great with the audience as he has been the host for somewhat similar shows like ESC, but I have always felt like he is missing just something when it comes to being a host. He is missing that little extra, because when I see him host I feel like you can really watch how he is trying 110% to be that super polished friendly charming host, but somehow fails to put his personality into it, making it a bit special.

That is why I loved Petra. She did everything tongue in cheek, being incredibly charming without trying too hard, and showed the audience and the viewers a bit of her and her personality and they loved her.

I guess you reacted on Conchita in that way just because you're a fan. :D I think for the average viewer, they will only have a vague idea of who Måns is. And if they indeed know who he is, it's not likely he has been overexposed to them. As always, winning Eurovision is a big deal for one nights glory. Already the next day the glory is gone.

No no, I meant Conchita has been overexposed during the 3 shows imo :) it doesn't have anything to do with being exposed beforehand or being a fan since I'm not ;) I had the feeling she was much more put under the spolight than anyone else, like it was her show or something. I may be too "old school", but I prefer when winners only appear to sing their winning song and a medley of new songs during the final (like Loreen, Emmelie), they still did have significant exposure but they didn't "steal" the show to the participants at that time.

Jepp, I agree with you in the principle. For me though, regarding Conchita, I actually got a complete different view of her and to be honest Conchita saved the Vienna hosting from complete disaster. Agreeing with you having Måns as host could mean we're risking to create an unwanted tradition. Despite that I think Måns will be a terrific host if he indeed is allowed the space. Hopefully SVT could tone down his exposure with some great external acts.

I agree Mans is too polished to be ESC host. He's very sweet and obviously nice to look at but I think he'd make for quite a boring host, not as bad as the Azeri hosts obviously, but not as good as Sweden could do  That doesn't mean he can't make several appearances during the night ;)

He could jump out of a cake during the opening and be one of the grooms at the traditional gay wedding during the interval act. ;)
