Wow, if that's true, then it's the worst idea ever for a Eurovision theme, if you ask me. The contest is kind of supposed to be a joyful event, all they'll do is spoil the atmosphere with such a delicate subject matter that divides European countries. I agree with Chorizo, unless Merkel comes to rap and break dance with a bunch of refugees, I fail to see how tackling that subject matter in an official theme is relevant.

The situation with "refugees" (or rather illegal clandestines) we know in Europe is totally abnormal and I don't get why those people get all the attention and all cares. They already unbalanced the ratio between men and women in Sweden (the number of single men has incredibly gone up). And tbh I'm sick to hear about "refugees" everywhere and every time. But, the ESC being held this year in Sweden, the leftist and well-thinking country of Europe, you're right, we could really expect that from them but it makes me hate Sweden a bit more than before.

I'm not surprised given that SVT totally politicize everything (for instance Melodifestivalen this year was just one big propaganda-fest), but I'm surprised they are willing to take this even further and expose themselves like this to all of Europe (again maybe it's for the better so all Europe can see what kind of propaganda machine Swedes have to deal with on the daily ... still though it's sad that they consider this and make all Sweden look like a big fat joke). A majority of Europeans don't even agree with the invasion going on, so not sure what SVT want to achieve here really? It might work for Swedish sheep viewers, but I highly doubt this will be much appreciated across the continent. SVT should stop its propaganda already, and regardless of where you stand on the issue shouldn't really matter (again a majority of Europeans, including a majority of Swedes even, don't agree but there are of course odd cases including the bribed psycopaths in the political-media machinery), this is still NOT the right place for it and it's crazy that EBU will accept pure politics in ESC when it's clear in the rules that it's not accepted, but then again EBU always fail to keep to their own set-up rules.

You cannot say that it is a surprise, everything has pointed in this direction. And I have nothing against it, it would be insane not having this kind of theme in some point, since this is for sure a huge part of the modern history of Europe. And having a dance number I think works very well, it is subtile and enough, but still effectful.

They could announce the interval act as Petra Mede using a glass toilet with explosive diarrhea and the same Swedish commentators on this website would come out and praise SVT for being "creative" and "modern" and "relevant" and "effective".
