Re: SWEDEN 2018

Just found out that Felix Sandman = F from FO&O
Also I just discovered Mimi Werners previous entry.
Elias Abbas seems also to be alright.
I think it wont be that bad.
At least here in Germany we dream of such Lineups lol

Re: SWEDEN 2018

That feeling when you look through the Melodifestivalen lineup and not a single name excites you.......... is admittedly a very sad one. And it seems other people are disappointed too, so it's not just me being my usual kind of weird. There's not even any recent big names I surprisingly enjoy such as Wiktoria. All the returning names here are artists I either dislike or find myself painfully indifferent towards. It's a worry when "Good Lovin" is your favourite song from that I know of the Melo back catalogue of everyone competing but it is..... somehow.

Margaret being there is bizarre. I had to do a double look to make sure it was actually her. Unsure how this will pan out for her to be honest. I think there are more interesting names to be pinched from abroad but she fits into modern day Melodifestivalen for sure. Renaida could be good. Difficult to judge when I can't find any original material but her Idol performances show she has quite some stage presence. Stiki Per Larsson..... maybe. His music isn't turning me on exactly, but it's very tolerable, and i'm harsh when it comes to acoustic singer-songwriter types as they usually either touch my soul or leave me cold. So a success in that i'm not running away as I usually do when one turns up at a Eurovision selection. Could Emmi Christensson give us a delicious, ridiculously over the top pop-opera-schlager-hotmess(that I very much desire)? I can but only hope. Somehow she seems a bit too serious looking. I wasn't crazy for the Ida Redig songs I heard, but I think with the right song could be promising. Those names at least all made me ponder. I guess we've got to remember that Melodifestivalen makes names of people, and everyone started as a newcomer once before we fell in love. I think it's the returning names that are just so disappointing here though sadly.

However, there is one shining light, a beacon of hope. All hail Kikki Danielsson. Stargazer I hope you will join me in hyping who is sure to become the new Owe except 7th place in the semi. That bit in the video around the minute mark where the tempo picks upxheat

Kikki for the win!

p.s. No Alcazar is a sin. All it would have taken was for them to be there for me to be happy. I'm that easy to please. I don't think i'll ever live my dream of seeing Alcazar or BWO at Eurovision.

And under the Andra Chansen rule change just the following year in 2014, Martin Rolinski would have qualified.

What annoys me is that the 2013 entry was ruined by awful staging although my 2nd favourite after Zlata that year
could've gone for top 5 placing ten years in a row

I have actually changed my mind and I like the line-up, there are a lot of new names which is great because past shows that having years which strongly relies on golden participants of the past hasn't turned out that great. Melodifestivalen generally keeps a high quality year after year, and 2014 and 2017 we're similar in many ways.

It was the two years after Sweden was the host, and some of the energy and juice was just out. So I expect 2018 to be like 2015 - a year which sets a new and great tone!

I can't help but feeling that this young lady is going to turn out something fantastic. She was the artist of probably Sweden's biggest summer hit 2017.

We'll see, maybe you're right... it just doesn't look very good on paper but maybe some of the "new names" will surprise us (certainly the known names, atleast part of them, are dreadful).

Ironically though, that hit is a cover of Kikki Danielsson

Re: SWEDEN 2018

I must be the only one who hasn't heard Margaret's big hit. I also think that she will flop. So what if she had ONE big hit in Sweden. The average viewer has no idea who she is and unless she has a smash song, she won't be near the final. We'll see.

Personally, I only root for Mariette this year. Don't know how she can top AMY for me though.

Margaret didn't have a "big hit" in Sweden, I wouldn't even call it a hit, maybe a minor one...

The reason why people root for her here is because she was a fan favorite to win the Polish selection in 2016 (with the same song some refer to as being a "hit" in Sweden later in the summer of that year), and while I think she was robbed in the Polish selection, I agree with you that she might flop here because she's practically a no name in Sweden...

On the other hand she's not in MF to win I think, it's more another try to launch her in Sweden, like I wrote on the previous page she's signed to a Swedish label and production team so it's just natural they try to make her "a thing" in Sweden and Melodifestivalen is a huge platform so...

People generally doesn't care who is the performer, it's always about if the song is good enough. Loreen didn't make final last year, Nano came out of nowhere and won people's choice.

Also: Cool Me Down was a huge hit in Sweden in 2016, it was on the radio all the time. I love Margaret, but her live performance of Cool Me Down was laughable so it's going to be interesting to see how she's going to succeed. The girl's voice is at best ok and she isn't really trained to sing and dance at the same time and yet she did.

Well, actually I think that Melodifestivalen is a much better stage for Margaret. For better or worse the performances have such sheen at Melo and artists if they choose to can just have a backing track turned up to full volume, doing all the work, as they twirl and prance about on stage looking fabulous. Not shading at all because even dear Alcazar obviously benefit from this massively (arguably more than anyone). Margaret might not have to focus so hard on her vocals this year, and can instead work on her stage presence. I think she faltered at the Polish selection because she had to sacrifice movement to be able to sing, and the little movement she did do, along with the singing was awkward. I believe Melodifestivalen will show her in a more positive light.

I haven't checked anyone yet..who should i?
Underbart is a bit too soft, but if they step up to Hasse Andersson's style they have a chance xup

and about my favorite swedish esc songs... i don't know...from the past few years only mans was amazing.
But 1974, 1999 and 2000 are classics that give me nostalgia.
I think in the future i'll have a definite favorite because in sweden there's some room to top everyone from the past.
